Nope. Let's be real scoring in figure skating is political by default and the starting line is not equal for skaters from all feds or training groups then there's of course reputation judging, and no scoring system is going to change that, but what is happening in ice dance this season tops every other category.
YMMV. I don't agree.

Evan Bates looked a little tougher here in the free dance. Really added another dimension to the presentation.
Looking at that score think Chock and Bates may have narrowly won even if the French team didn't have the fall. How impactful would that mistake be on their PCS? Close for bronze. Could've gone either way.

Okay, men lit up this event like a bonfire. Three amazing free skates by Malinin, Sato and Grassl just rocked my world. A bit of a downer that Kagiyama still squeezed ahead of Sato with 4th in free. If they all manage to show up for Olympics in this shape, yay!

Ilia's skate was an absolute triumph of spirit and willpower.

While I congratulate Malinin for doing something completely unprecedented and making history here by landing seven quads, describing any score in a subjectively judged sport as a "World Record" has never sat right with me. It is not the same as Mondo Duplantis pole vaulting higher than anyone else. Or Faith Kypyegeon running the fastest 1.5km. Or even Ronnie O'Sullivan scoring a maximum break in the fastest time. Those are things that can objectively measured.

In artistic gymnastics you can do the highest difficulty skill and get the highest execution score on top of that but it wouldn't be called a world record.

Just watched the men, and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know what's going on with Mikhail, his skate definitely wasn't his best. Adam did ok, although he can do better. Still a joy to watch. Daniel was the one who most pleasantly surprised me. I have never seen him skate so well!! And his reaction in the K&C was wonderful to behold. I expected Illia to do well, he usually does after a less than perfect Short. And his reaction in the K&C was good too, although Daniel as the pope won it for me (in the leaderships chair for that moment). Shun was such a joy to watch as well, and Yuma might have been less spectacular than yesterday but also very watchable (if you look at the scores: Daniel, Shun and Yuma were very close in scores in their FS). Will there be a small silver medal for Daniel, or is that only at ISU championships? He definitely deserves one today.

No falls at all today!

Congratulations to the Gold Medal Winners and to all the Podium finishers! US was dominant here in the gold medal race. Japan showed their grit too, congrats to both federations!

Shout out to Kaori for her comeback winning FS, and winning the Bronze medal. :cheer:

You've been a charming addition to our little Golden Skate family, but I'm going to have to put you on mute.

Your incessantly negative, complaining, know-it-all commentary has become tiresome for me.

It's common courtesy to let you know I'm using the ignore function so that you can ignore me in return. That way you're not shouting into the void if you want to respond to anything I've written. Best wishes.
How does one mute? I would like to do the same.

The irony is that Piper and Paul outscored all the teams but FBC with the Tech Panel getting the 2nd highest score for their levels...

However, the judges this time gave them very low GOE for what was their best performance of the season.

PCS wise I guess I do not live on the same planet as the judges who scored Lilah and Lewis fun but shallow program exactly the same as Piper and Paul's deep and mesmerizing performance

The tech panel here is the same that will be at the Olympics.. hopefully, the judges will not be the same.
I love this program from Piper and Paul (and the music is fabulous).

americans and japaneses are overscored like hell on this GPF..people wre blaming russians for overscoring but what american federation is doing if not the same now?
americans with their lousy, laughable program getting over 130 with poor technical content? they are 3, 4(??) last world gold champions, at least Cizeron hasnt been skating for 3 years, but c/b?
putting british over canadians was a joke too

It was a joke relating to him taking part in 4cc which is not happening, same with him finishing 8th.
Yes, not mean at all to wish someone a way lower placement than they can skate for in the most important competition of their career. Just a little joke. And on a day Malinin showed his grit, talent and sportsmanship.

It was really a harmless comment linked to 4cc participation meaning that there is just as much chance ilia is going to 4cc to win it like his mother than a chance that he would finish 8th. Very silly and harmless humour.

Just watched the dance: I can only imagine the shambles that the competition thread must have been in. I'll steer clear of controversy and just discuss the material since I have no idea if the calls were correct or not.

Z/K: The apocalypse must be near because a Benoit Romeo & Juliet program is my favorite of the year. I didn't want to look away at any moment. Their extension is beautiful and I think they have the most effective character steps. Warhorse music and yet it feels totally fresh choreo-wise.

The new French team: Lots of beautiful edges and extension. I feel like the music builds a lot of tension in the first half but the second half doesn't deliver on it. Instead there is a lot of arm flailing and contemporary dance excesses. I do not like that character step at all.

Piper and Paul: I think Vincent stands out in the field now because no one seems to be doing simple storytelling anymore. They don't have the extension but I think they make up for it in creativity and clarity. There isn't a bunch of wasted movement in their program.

C/B: Not my favorite of theirs. I have no idea why they've committed to this all black look. The music starts to wear on my nerves about two minutes in. I think they have some superb highlights in there and there's definitely a concept and choreo throughout. I just don't like the product however.

The Brits: I think this program is very well packaged to take advantage of their strengths. They nail their highlights! Having said that the program/choreo is not on the level of sophistication of the four I've discussed and I don't think it should be scoring up there in terms of composition. It's not their fault in that these are the rules but they're definitely an example in how far we've strayed from traditional dance.

R/A: There was some good skating in there but I do not think this is an Olympic worthy program. It screams gimmick to hide flaws. I know they're loved and I have nothing against them but their material is not sophisticated at all.

To me it's similar to most of their free dances this last olympic quad. Though I think this is the best iteration of it. Because it flows together better and makes makes more of a cohesive whole (as opposed to being a series of cool tricks). To be fair to them, there are not many free dances in that particular style so it does make them stand out. And I think they've been doing so well as they had to be ready very early in the season to ensure Olympic qualification. I hope it's not a case of them peaking too early (like Lopareva and Brissaud seemed to do last season).
