2025-26 Japanese Nationals: Info & Pre-game Chat

Just for fun I set my secure VPN to Japan and got quite far into the process of seeing what it is all about..using chrome translate and google translate......but then I got into this infinite loop where I couldnt register or pay.
Maybe us 12 fans are just not worth it, but what would be wrong with a $20 one week only access for the skating?...oh well....that is probably like asking "artists" to give away their tunes to skaters .....we are small potatoes.,

What’s a good YouTube channel that will post videos of the competition? Or a place where I can stream Japanese nationals without a VPN? If possible.
 
OK, the almost same interface is used for Nozomi standard channels in days of yor. Note channel numbers may be off a bit.
I want you all to look at the new interface. Over on the left, you can see I have channel bank BS chosen. Channel 17 happens to be "BS Fuji.
Moving to the right, we see the current times of shows you can watch. Over on the left, you can chose the day. Today is of course Sat.
Off the Nozomi screen on the left, you can see the Nozomi app and the TVer app.
Now look at the second pic. You have clicked on the right part of the screen to watch this guy sell beds but you want to change channels, days, times, etc. So you move your mouse cursor a bit and a time appears over his head, channel info is in the upper left, and most important a go back to menu half red circle appears with an arrow for a brief time way over on the left. Its tiny! Click on that, click back on a channel bank, and you can watch another show on another time on another day. I have not learned how to record shows yet.

Note. here are some good channels to know. They may not appear exactly as this but you have Google translate on your phone, right? Its free.
Different colors, different channel banks....
 
Went surfing around Japanese TV tonight and this was on J sports 4, Channel 30, BS bank. This was a pic from my phone shot at my telly. actual quality is very good. Much better than this.


You wanna see the 2022 Worlds? Channel J Sports 4, Channel 30, 20:00 hours IIRC Wed 12/10. No commercials, english inteviews with skaters. Note youtube type slider.

Thanks for the info! It was good to test out my Japanese TV setup by watching some of the 2022 Worlds men's short program again (at 16:00, I believe? The program just before the one at 20:00). I plan on rewatching more of it. :biggrin:

By the way, if you buy one of those Japanese TV services for a month, you can get to see JNats as well as US Nationals with Japanese commentary instead of getting annoyed by Johnny and Tara! Just saying~

I believe this channel will post videos of the top three afterwards. It's not too hard to find videos of top skaters soon after the competition ends, but those videos tend to get taken down from YouTube quickly.

There's also a guy on qq who tends to show JNats, hopefully a link for his channel will show up soon.

Love that! Could you please explain for an old sick man the mechanism on how that works on Nozomi? I was watching for a lark the Johnny and Tara coverage (they had a substitute for Terry Gannon) on the GPF and in my market they threw Ami's FS under the bus!!!!! :mad: May the dung of a thousand camels fill their houses! 🐫🐫🐪

　US Nats coverage will be on J Sports 4 (channel 30 for you with Nozomi) according to the JSports website.

Click on the blue button that says 放送予定一覧 for an auto-translated schedule!

Thanks! This might be the only way I can watch the few events I want to see. Jan. 7th I fly down to San Diego and from there sail to Hawaii and back and wont be home till the 27th. Unfortunately, this may be beyond the 2 week playback period. Sniff... oh well, seeing Kīlauea erupt at night as the Capt holds the ship in one spot and turns off the lights is worth it...as well as all that Asian food and free drinks...and botanical gardens....don't really wanna take my laptop along but perhaps I can load Peacock onto my tablet or Jsports....Holland Amerika now uses "Starlink" so the download speeds are good.

9 years will do that! They skated beautifully and won nats. Alexa and Chris came in second. You should have seen the look on Alexa's face! She is a hard core competitor. Do not under any conditions look at Chris's costume. You will turn to stone. (Sai Bon, please be careful in Japan. I know you are not 14 but the pandemic of 1918 hit the young.... and old.

Don't worry, CoyoteChris. I only go out when absolutely necessary and avoid rush hour. I seem to have an asbestos immune system - never had covid, rarely get flu (am fully vaccinated), only minor colds. The only things that made me seriously sick are gastro/food poisoning (have been hospitalized 3 times, not fun!) and shingles, which lives in your body so not much you can do about it. Although I'm seriously stressed with the family stuff (PM me if you want to know the gory details), looking forward to binge-watching Fuji TV indulgence from Friday onwards. It will be nice for once not to have to listen to the likes of Chris and Ted mangling Japanese surnames :laugh4:

Good for you! I get the flu shot every year and have not had flu in decades. I got the shingles shots (the new one works better than the old) cause I am scared to death of it. I have had norovirus 4 times so I carry a hand sanitizer that kills it..pretty hard to find. But its on ebay and amazon. And since I am an aircraft mechanic and know how an airliner ventilation/ heating and airconditioning works (not) I have medical grade N95 masks for flying. Send me a quick update about the family things....I worry about you....someday you have to show me the Southern Cross!
