Just to go back a bit to the positives of this competition, I want to praise Miura Kao. There's just something so Hanyu-like about the way he skates, where you have that recklessness and explosive nature with his speed, and yet the sensitivity that he showcased in his step sequence in the long program... to me, if he gets past his injuries and improves some of his spin positions, he'll really be the next big thing. Even the way he enters and exits his jumps is so exciting, without needing additional "transitions" just for the sake of them. His SP was the best choreographed one this season - like for me if Sui/Han weren't there, he'd have the best SP across the entire sport this season.
Jin Boyang didn't skate too fast in this comp, and that SP is a total misfire and deserved rather low composition score, but what I really liked was how the combo spin went with the cadence of the music in his LP. Seems random to point out, and his positions could be better (apart from the camel which has nice stretch), but you see so few spins going to the music at all nowadays. Oh, technically precise acceleration feature too. And thank god for the smile in the step sequence, because the competition ended up needing it.
Cha Junhwan - not a fan, and think he's overscored as I've stated before, but I'll give credit to his speed and flow across the ice when he's at his peak. I also really like how he hits nice shapes in his spins when he's on.
