Ladies LP - actual competition

I'm telling you, Those half-loop Sequences are SOOO difficult. Too bad they don't get the credit that they deserve. You need such good speed and control going out of the first jump, if not, the sequence will fail. And even with the minor glitch, Joannie "technically" couldn't save the sequence.

T.Toe - h/lp - T.Salchow = T.Salchow - T.Toe Combo point wise in my opinion...

I found neither Asada or Rochette really appealing. Both looked horribly concentrated, no magic.

I think the problem was that they were both a little surprised at themselves. I mean, they are two of the worlds greatest skaters and they expect to be getting scores at least 120. I think Mao started off very nicely, but after she missed that first jump, I think she was a little shocked so the rest of the program lost it's charm quite a bit. I though Rochette's skate was boring overall to me D:

I hope Asada and Kim make it onto the podium at least...(though it's almost guaranteed for Yu-na as long as she doesn't do anything major, right??)

Mao did look off - I do hope everything is ok with her and she kicks butt at worlds!

I think it would actually be great for Rochette if her sequence didn't count here - that would mean if she nails it, she is all that MORE competitive with the top 3-5.

But Mao's Triple Axel was probably counted as fully rotated - that's 8.2 points +1 GOE. That's about the same as two "normal" Triples.

Joannie beats Mao? Can't believe it.

You should have watched the game.
If so, you couldn't say that.
Asada was horrible but she got overscored.
Rochette did well except very little mistakes but she got lower comparing with Asada.

Mao actually is very much beatable, but can't say the same thing in Yu-Na's case

Otonal

3lz-2t good
3f - slight 2foot?
3s very good
nice flow into spiral
3lz flipped of landing
3t good
3f messy landing
2a-2a fine
ending combo spin nice

not the drama of Butyrskaya (a classic, naturally), but i think the music suits her reasonably well. Commentator noting lack of choreo and transitions though.

107.56 -- 167.74 -- 3rd

I think Mao is just having an "off" competition. If she skated like she did at Nationals, she would almost surely beat Yuna, or at least be in a very close second. At least it's not Worlds :D

I really like Cynthia's dress. One of the most flattering I've seen on her - I don't usually like her skirts on her but this flowy one is much more flattering.

Cynthia is getting her jumps back - 5 clean triples! Step out on the 2nd triple lutz) and doubled flip, but good for her - huge smiles! Her jumps look so much more secure and she looks so much more confident.

Commentator thinks she cut her last spiral too short.

YAY!!! Good for her! She is ecstatic.

I'm not so sure which Nationals you mean. This year's Nationals, Fumie beat Mao in LP IIRC. But I agree she had an off competition.

I think Cynthia's choreography was stiff D: And her twizzle seemed like it was in slow-motion. oh well. She skated well anyways :)
