Ladies LP - actual competition

wow, looks like she nailed it, although I'm trying to re-organize my music at the same time

Sorry to see Mao NOT on fire and clean for her - I actually think this is a very interesting program.

Rochette! Wow - great!

joannie, you can tell she really wanted to skate well for the home crowd.

lol at the canadian fans screaming at every little thing she did, hehehe.

she looks happy, just a couple of mistakes.

i think she needs a better footwork sequence, in terms of choreo.

Awesome save from Joannie on the sequence - still getting the 3S in. Good skate. A bit tight but good nonetheless. A few bobbles - the extra step in the series, the singled axel in that sequence but should go into 1st.

other than the last 1a 2 ax combo - really nice everything was exquisite - can't wait for worlds

Solid Rochette. Hopefully the lack of GOE on jumps won't cost her the title. Kim hasn't done more than 5 clean Triples in the long program for a long time...

He. Did she got downgraded on something? Did the 3-3 sequence didn't count because too much steps between them? She got just a tiny bit of a point more than Mao on TES.

Well, not quite her Nationals performance, but it was close. Joannie singled the 1st 2Axel in the 2Axel+2Axel sequence and she added an extra turn in her 3toe+half loop+3Salchow sequence, but all 7 of her triples were cleanly landed. Great job! Should hold the lead!

How is that toe-salchow going to be marked?

Isn't she in danger of having that marked as two separate jumps with the extra steps?

Good Job Rochette.

But Am I the only one who thinks Asada is Miss PCS?
She is really overscored.
Rochette got lower PCS than Asada.

I'm not sure about her "extreme" arm movements either, doesn't look natural with the music.

But she really fought through that program, good for her. Should go in first for both LP and total (of course). She probably just assured herself of the silver.

ETA: slightly surprised that Joannie didn't beat Mao, but I think Joannie was looking tight today with all her jumps and the performance on the whole, and Mao had the 3A as well as better flow on all the landed jumps as well as more intricate transitions.

Kinda don't get why her TES are lower than Mao's. Yes Mao did a 3A, but no 3Lz and no 3/3 or anything... Would not have had Mao 1st in the LP.

Joannie Rochette CAN

Aranjuez

3lz-2t-2lo fine
3f great
3lo good
3lz fine

1a-2a
3s good

good stuff, standing O
there was a gentle quality to this performance that i think was better than Nationals, where she seemed very "routine" about it. suble difference though. this is about as complete a program as you can ask for. I think her spins here were maybe not her very sharpest, to be nitpicky.
It's a shame this program is constructed in a way not to have a really free and expressive moment.. when the music really soars, she's holding back cuz she still has 2a-2a ans 3s to do... but you gotta respect her content
