Ladies LP - actual competition

Caroline got better right now. At this competition. If she'd been this good all season she'd be the national champ. Peaked too late for it to matter.

Alissa got worse with every competition this season. Rachael was a bit up and down. Caroline got better with every competition this season -- although really she was just as good at National's as here, I don't see any significant difference, she even got her 3-3 ratified in the SP at National's. I can't get over the feeling that US judges just don't like her.

If you watched the game and say so, I don't agree you.
There were so many girls who skated better than Asada not only Kim but also Zhang, Rochette, Phanueff.

If other skaters did like that, she was under 10.

I agree - can't believe that Asada was held up on PC scores - this is how the judges still munipulate results - she is not that much better than the rest of the field-I did not notice more choreography - or better skting skils- but neither is Yu-Na Kim - the skating skills of the top 8 at worlds should be alot closer than this result

Wow, that last group was so worth staying up until almost 4am.

Specially Joannie and Cynthia, those two made my day...

Yu-Na, Yu-Na... even with the fall, that was great. Next: skate a clean LP, please

That tiny Korean spunk earlier on was lovely surprise.

Akiko Suzuki: gotta liker her, the "find" of the season for me

A. Cantu's sit spin

And Gizmo: please change your hair... :frown2:

Alright, going to crash asleep now.

Be nice to each other during the post mortem discussion...:biggrin:

I'm not really sure what you mean by "help up"? You mean held on the podium?

Wasn't Alissa's PCS 8 points higher than Caroline & Rachael's at National's? It was only 1 point higher in the SP, and again only 1 point higher than Caroline's in the LP, and 3 points higher than Rachael's. And she skated worse at National's than here. Shame on the US judges for holding her up with the PCS.

Caroline also got three !'s on her flips at National's, which she never got before, and also not here in the SP. And judging from her TES in the LP, I think she must not have gotten the ! here either.

I'm really surprised that Yu Na didn't win the FP. She deserved her win. Beautiful skating. Yes, her spins are her weak point.

She got at least two downgrade. Her 3F+3T was downgraded to 2T and you can clearly see it's underroatated. It doesn't get the high to fully roatated like in the SP. Slap the 5.5+1.2 with -GOE she just get a value for 3F where her normal 3F+3T get at least 10.5+ and she also lost 4 points for her downgraded 3lo and a fall. Asada 3A +GOE get the same value as 3+3 so technically she did 5 triples equalvilent. I think her back injury make her sloppy spin. too bad she used have beautiful lay back into bellimem. Overall i think it's a good competition as it give a slap for all the skaters to wakeup and get ready for world.

I know Alissa is '09 US champion.

But it disturbs me that she could not beat any other top contender.

Does US really want to send a skater to the World when she could only manage to beat Amelie Lacoste?

Lets rethink this idea!

I'm not 2-skaters but I agree his or her opinion.
Yeh I can understand the judges looking around the signboard.
And the refree. She is a Japanese.

I think Yu-na had some low-level spins, and also possible one or two downgrades (both 3T's looked UR'ed). She didn't have as much flow or height on her jumps today. Jumping a bit tight, like Joannie.

Maybe it's the "Joannie Factor" affecting Yu-na's score. Joannie sitting above Mao, having real shot at winning the gold... it may have affected individual judge's decision - it's not like Yu-na skated a flawless program so it's possible to grade her lower than usual.

I wish people would stop saying the judges are "holding people up." No wonder there are so many rumors about corruption these days, because when something really doesn't go their way it is suddenly the judges fault. The same thing when trying to decide scores in American football--the referees are always blamed. The judges are giving their fair scores and their best so please stop complaining. It seems a little childish.
I am trying to covey this as politely and effectively as possible.

ITA:agree:

As for Yuna, taking back the loop into the program is very good. 3 times 2A is not unexpectable IMO. Congratulations!

Oh I'm sorry. I'm not a fan of Kim.
Except her, watching Rochette, Phanueff and Zhang, I've been angry.
You must be Asada's fan.
You want to think everyone who dislike her is Kim's side.

Just occurred to me Canada got 3 silver medals at this competition. Hopefully this doesn't mean Patrick will also get...

Yuna's lucky her two 3T's weren't downgraded, they were both UR'ed. She did get an edge call on the 3F, and I notice that maybe for the first time she didn't repeat the 3F?
