Ladies LP - actual competition

Unfortunately for Alyssa, she barely got any points for her first two jumping passes.

Her 3 Lutz combo turned into a sequence because she stepped out of it, earning her only 2.8 points.

And 3 Flip was downgraded; so she got 1.02 points for that pass.

I hate that I have to look at the protocols to understand the results!!!

Could this be the 1st time in history that the USA ladies' champion was beaten internationally by both the USA silver and bronze medalists in the same event? I'm thinking, yes.

Michelle Kwan should come back

Joannie, Fumie, and Cynthia I might add proved you don't need 3-3 to score well

I'm really nervous about this post because I've found this kind of rumor on Korean board and the opposite one on Japanese board, so many times.

Anyway, I get off the subject in this thread, so I bring this to the end.

Is it related to the message I got from Korean? I couldn't read the message but I only read top and the word JPN Money.

I have a question. Is that word only using Korean? You and the people refered it related to Korean. However I've read that word at some economic magazins. I know that words come from America not Korea during 70s and 80s. I know that words disregard Japanese and if you are Japanese and feel uncomfortable I'm so sorry.

But today's result makes me angry because judges are so generous to Asada and not generous American and other countries. I feel it always.

well shoot, since we're worried about how the girls feel at the end of the day, lets just do away with 3 spots all together and let everybody in! A three day short program event, whoo hoo!

Whoo hoo, indeed! Break out the champagne cuz I'm sending a letter to the ISU right this minute!

Freakin' sheesh.

 It's okay, Medusa... it took me a long time to figure that one out when I first saw it.

Many have compared the results from this competition with those from the European Championships. While the scores didn't seem particularly inflated or deflated, I think the past has shown that it is risky to compare specific scores from two different events. The scoring potential these skaters have at Worlds is debatable.

As for who to send -- Alissa is National champion. There's no official argument to be made. However, if Alissa "mysteriously withdraws", well, that would raise my eyebrow. Yes Caroline did amazing tonight, but this is essentially the best she can do. It's not the best Alissa and Rachael can do, so...

Sure Alissa "may land 5 triples and do a clean short program" That's possible look at how well Cynthia skated tonight, and she's inconsistent. But am I willing to bet on Alissa doing a clean short program and a 5/6 triple performance under pressure HECK NO.

The fact of the matter is that there is a reason Caroline and Rachael are World Junior Champions, whereas Alissa never medaled at a Junior Worlds.

Both Caroline and Rachael are good under pressure and rarely have meltdowns.

However, what happened at Nationals was even though Alissa had an extremely poor free skate, the USFSA judges decided to give Alissa huge PCS, higher PCS than Alissa would ever receive by international judges for a similar skate.

The point is and the reason so many of us were screaming so heavily and hard was a lot of us felt that if international judges had judged the event Rachael and likely Caroline would finish ahead of Alissa....

IF Alissa had skated well in the long program, I would have had no issue with her going to Worlds. But I'm amazed at the sheer stupidity, of the USFSA for choosing to held up their most inconsistent skater, when Olympic spots were on the line.

Flatt and Zhang WERE are best shots at 3 spots for the Olympics, they always were. And Nationals showed that they were our best shots, but the USFSA judges decided it would be a lot nicer to have a "mature lady win."

Frankly there's a time and a place to gamble on inconsistent skaters. That place ISN'T at the Olympic Qualifiers.

...and what went down tonight proves that that would have happened. There is the SP complication, though. Alyssa can score ~60 in the short program if she nails it. I don't think the others have that capability. With visible mistakes, including ONE FALL she still got 55.

Maybe USFS figured that it would be stuck with 2 spots no matter what. However, after tonight if I were them, I would not be able to shake that "what if" feeling out of my head

then I must txtmsg a lot, i immediately know what it stands for:biggrin:
Most international boards I know don't allow these shortforms to be used. It is highly difficult, especially if English is not your first language and you therefore never text in English.

Heck, English is my first language and I don't even know some of them.

I only discovered what AFAIK stood for through visiting this board and others. Took me a while to figure it out on my own, lol (laughing out loud, btw...and btw = by the way :) ).

IIRC is another one that always puzzled me - I eventually figured out it must mean "If I Remember Correctly". However, it still slips my mind every now and then.

I'm an anti-texter. I drive my best friend nuts because I take the time to type out complete sentences

that being said I do use a few of them on occassion on here (IMHO, and AFAIK, and IIRC)

That may be... I really can't understand why Caroline is 4th while Mao is 3rd. And I like Mao very much, but this night Caroline showed a great performance.
Don't know... I prefer not to think bad about the judges.

Oh it's factored in here. Rachael only did 5 triples here in the long compared what she did at Nationals. And I really hope that the USFSA is thinking what if here, because Flatt and Zhang I think "could" have done it. But I don't think a combination of Flatt and Czisny or Czisny/Zhang has as good of a shot.

I wanted to laugh at the US judges' faces, hope they realize how stupid they are. The pre-judged PCS and GOE are killing the sports. They dumped Zhang because she did not do to well at GP when Alissa did better.

They also messed up the ice dance when they inflated N/B scores with outrageous PCS and GOE at Nat. They almost got beaten by the Chinese in OD. The same FD with no major mistakes, they got 20-30 points less at 4CC when compare with Nat. Luckily, we have talented teams that did well at GP, that's how the US judges set up the Nat. podium. N/B have never done well in internationals, I still can't comprehend why USFS kept hoding up this team, maybe it's the popularity contest or conspiracy??
