Hersh on Plushenko/Russian Natls Scoring

:rolleye: If you do not see a difference, I do not know how do you explain ... this is, roughly, the difference as between the rock'roll and classic music

It doesn't matter what actions or elements are involved in different sports. Athletes are extremely similar and have very similar mindsets. Trash talk exists to some extent in all sports.

Trash talk exists to some extent in all sports.
Trash talk not exists in "my" world of figure skating

I read it on the Plushy thread - the interview where Plushy said what is wrong with Evan, Patrick and Lambiel.
....
Since then Plushy gives a new interview with new insults to skaters.

Don't worry - there will be more talk - I am sure Plushy will give another interview after Euros and put down Patrick and Evan again. Or anyone else he can think to speak badly about.
As you remember, Plushy and for himself said to have flaws and that is not perfect in everything.
So, in your opinion - analysis of its own and another's skating is an insult, but ridicule of one's skating - not?

It's OK - I am sure Patrick won't be shy about answering back........:)
No doubt, but before that, it would be smarter to use the time to achieve something in the world of skating

Maybe it is one of the posts that had been suddenly deleted cause in Plushy thread there is not an interview prior to Patrick comments. Chan was not responding to any comments, there is no interview of Plushenko commenting on Chan's skating. You are welcome janetfan to search the 22,988 threads here, right in the new server!:p

Plushyta why you buy this crap, go and read the interview yourself, Patrick has made his comments months ago and Plushy didnt refer to Chan in his own interview which was just a couples of week ago anyway. I have a pretty good memory.
Chan's interview, thats old news anyway, an unfortunate comment in the Olympic fever, nothing else. Lets move on.

When Plushy feels the need to put down other skaters he is doing it for a reason.

I don't mind - but I don't see any reason to make up stories or deny it

It is just an Olympic season - and more trash talk will follow.

Some of it is even funny. I thought Plushy telling the press that Evan has invented a new jump was kind of funny.

I also thought it was funny when Patrick told his story.

Hersh just made jokes about Plushy's spins and his strange "anti-Tango" LP
And his ridiculous marks at Natls.

Who knows - maybe Evan or Jeremy will score 105 in their SP at US Natls.

Maybe that's the actual insult. That Plushenko hasn't mentioned Chan.

But Plushy did mention Chan. He said Chan can't win because he has no quad.

I don't blame Patrick in the least for making remarks BACK about Plushy because a young skater doesn't need to hear comments like that about his skating in an Olympic season.

So Patrick basically said Plushy skates like a neanderthal

And don't we act the same way here at GS?
When a poster knocks our favorite skater or even a scoring system or even broadcasters many of us tend to argue and fight back. :)

We bring up age issues when it suits us, right? 19 is not that young, you sound like patrick is a young boy that doesn't know what he says and the impact of it! And I dont remember a 15 year old Plushy laughing at videos of Stojko. (just an example)

But Plushy did mention Chan. He said Chan can't win because he has no quad.
do you also see dead people?

Sorry jntfan but you are as accurate in your posts as babelfish! I quit!

Plushenko was going easy on Chan by mentioning that he had no quad, becuase right about now I have a list of reason of why Chan cant win the Olympics....

Dead people and Paris Hilton :rolleye: What an argument

Good luck and good health to Plushy and all the skaters.

I was hoping that someone would post an actual quote (with source) so that we would know fo sure whether Plushenko said anything about Chan or not.

He did, I believe it was a Russian article that was translated by someone here I think. Plushy evaluated his competitors and said something that Patrick didn't have a quad so he wasn't sure if he could win, or would win or something like that. There is mention of it in one of the Patrick threads, that I was just browsing to see if I was remembering wrongly. Even seniorita commented on it :p So janetfan and I aren't crazy - Plushy has mentioned Chan!

ETA: As I finished tryping that, Patrick's Olympic commercial started playing on TV again, getting everyone geared up for Nationals. My favorite line, "What does it take to inspire a nation?" I get goosebumps! :)

I didnt say anyone crazy, as far as I know janetfan was talking about this interview concerning lambiel and lysacek's jump.
This is the older i found that Plush has referred to Chan. In any case do you recall that Chan remarks that he laughed with Lori about Plushy programs in Rostel were because Plushy has somehow insulted him back in October? I really dont remember something like that.

Yes, it was the second interview janetfan was talking about. We were just pointing out that Plushy has mentioned Chan. People seemed to think he hadn't...

And that all known fact is insult?
Your attempt to reduce Chan's "neanderthal" dictionary and behavior, and equate it with Plushy's statement is ridiculous

You will not provoke me to react :p

They are public figures and professionals, we are anonymous amateurs and voyeur

Pardon me while I laugh, but is this the Plushenko trash-talking explosion that we are so exercised about?

- Who are your main competitors?
- They are a dozen! Anyone can be a champion, there isn't a clear leader. For example, Joubert has good jumps. But on feelings, expressions he loses to Lambiel. And him is very good in the techinical aspect and artistry, but his big problem is with the triple axel. Takahashi is the King of footwork, but after his surgery he has had difficulties with the quad jump. Even today in Japan, he won natioanals without it. I remember I skated with him in some exhibitions and he was great, nine shows and nine times he skated clean! But in competition, Daisuke often makes mistakes. Oda? He skates well, but I think he isn't ready yet, he is young. Lysacek? Yes he is the world champion. However, his triple axel is done as a triple salchow. In general anyone can win and everyone can lose.

Russia figure skater Evgeni Plushenko told about who he can compete with at the Olympics-2010 in Vancouver.

"It's a very difficult question. Take for example Joubert, who made in the short program a quadruple jump with mistakes and they put him in first place, which is surprising. Or Lysacek, who rotates half a turn of his triple axel on the ice, which is also considered a mistake, but he gets good marks.

Patrick Chan is good, but he does not jump quadruples. Takahashi can also be in the fight, I skate with him in a tour in Japan and he did an fabulous program, he has added stability ...

Who else? Well, probably, Lambiel. He is great in steps, in spins, but without a triple axel, which he has problems with, it will be hard. We all have drawbacks and, of course, a lot of pluses. Therefore it is very difficult to predict anything.

To paraphrase, “there are many top contenders and they all have strengths and weaknesses, including me.”

The topic here was originally about Hersh and his article about the scores at Russian Natls......like many other threads this one drifted off topic.
