Tomas scored well in Russia earlier this season and even beat Patrick Chan! Hope this new venue will give him good vibes so he can kick butt and somehow manage to sneak up onto the podium
What I meant was that they will not be able to compete in their country.I would never write any one of those men off. All 3 are so wonderful and I hope they all can skate the way we know they are capable of!
Root for him to win bronze this year, and then gold next year at home. I think I'm going to do that.
Brian Joubert on the podium, if not on the top step, that is all I want out of these world championships. He is the only skater I am rooting for.
Well, in my mind, he already has two bronze (2009, 2010), two silvers (2008, 2004) and one gold. So he should have another gold to go with that (2012). This year should be an outlier so we don't have an incomplete set, but rooting for anyone to come in fourth is like teasing.
I'd love to see an 'old timer' who never one an Oly to win one. They deserve it for hanging in there. So GO JOUBERT, and Come Back Stephane L., Come Back to the Fold.
Interesting thoughts, MM. Patrick and Dai are expected to fight it out in this Championship with 2 other Japanese skaters to join them as well as Joubert. But there are so many male skaters worth watching to make it the most collossal competition ever. Top 10? I think Top 20!I don't really see how anyone is going to challenge Patrick Chan this time around.
Ice is slippery, anything can happen, etc. But Chan will do three quads. Who else will? Ryan Bradley? Kevin Reynolds? Chan will do all level four everythings. He will get 9.0 in Skating Skills and 8.5 in Tranitions. (The only reason he won't get 9.0 in Transitions is that Transitions always run a half-point below Skating Skills.) No-one will out-point him on P/E, CH and INT --at least not enough to make up for the tech.
Takahashi is the only one who can match Chan in Program Components, and Takahashi will probably not land a quad.
(JMO of course.)
I can't imagine him regaining his eligibility. His Federation does not have the pull as those in the Big Six.Just out of curiosity, has Stephane officially lost his eligible status yet?

I wouldn't mind that but I don't think he has a hope of beating Chan unless Chan falls 6 times.
Yeah that is about what it would take for Joubert to beat Chan. For one of the Japanese too it might be only 3 or 4 falls, if one of the Japanese can actually skate cleanly with quads.
