Actually, I quite prefer sky_fly20 commenting on coach's hair, as opposed to commenting on the skater's weight or height. At least the coach is an adult. Picking on skaters and trying to fit them into sky_fly20's weird view of life is shameful.
Agree. And the choreography was beautiful and unique. I don't really get the Radionova love-there is something stiff and up in the shoulders about her skating, at least to me. And that spread eagle with the bent knee makes me cringe. I would have had Satoko first (except she needs to relate a bit better to the audience)

It's friday (working day), it's short program but the attendance number is way too low 
I feel that Elena has the "film music" genre down!
I just love that SP from Elena!
Miyahara was originally a clockwise skater when she started FS in the US. In Japan, all clockwise skaters are trained to "fix" for conveniences of coaches and majority skaters (I guess). If she didn't need to fix it, her jumps could be much better.
The judging has made me a little bit sad (as usual 
).
Cheated jumps seemed mostly not noticed by the judges and some of them were pretty obvious, like the 3toe in Medvedeva's combination for example, given the thud-like landing with the loss of flow (it got four +2s and five +1s...).
Miyahara slightly cheated both of the jumps in her combination but I guess those were not easy to spot without the slo-mo, lack of height aside (well, the toe was more or less rotated but there was a slight hook on the lutz).
As Lil'Kitsu said, Sakhanovich had slightly weak landings on both jumps in her combination (especially the second) so the +1s and +2s are
. Just like with Medvedeva, I guess this is the 'WOW effect' at play. They did a 3/3 combination so who cares about what the quality actually was. The pluses are out! Sakhanovich's layback had a decent position and excellent speed but it did indeed travel throughout (it wasn't centred at all, just kept moving).
As far as PCS go, Miyahara's program was gentle and subtle and so was her music. Her timing seemed on so I don't understand the judges lowering her CH and IN marks. Also, considering her element layout wasn't usual.
Medvedeva, on the other hand, did deserve quite high PCS but not for SS given the lack of speed and ice coverage and her molasses-waddling cross-overs. That's a good case for varying the PCS.
I thought she was great. Really soft arm movements which reflected the character of the music well. Good flow throughout and an interesting element layout.
Her timing seemed on but I thought her choreography was quite bland and generic. I haven't done the PCS scores but I would have probably had her 5th on the PCS as well but with SS higher than Medvedeva, for sure.
I think Chen got more or less exactly the GOEs she deserved. The problem is that the skaters above her got some inflated ones. :/ So I guess yeah, her GOE was lowballed in relative terms.
There are three people on the technical panel and a majority vote decides if there's no full agreement.

I also think sky_fly20 tried to be humorous, and it is a nice observation. Unusual, but relevant association is a big technique used by stand-up comedians
.Oh and I actually felt ok about Kryger in the end. She has never even attempted the 3loop in competition before so it was gutsy of her to try it and good to see her push herself and not play it safe.
Spins didn't go well but then they were always her Achilles heel. I wonder if stamina was an issue as she seemed to have really slowed down by the end and struggled a lot on the combination spin.
I think it would be great if she could work with some kind of performance skills/mime coach on developing coherent and appropriate presentation for her programs. She tried to smile here but I don't think it was the best strategy given how sombre her SP music is.

No wonder I like Sakhanovich, that's awesome!
Elena was amazing and it's great to see someone in a position to defend their junior title, it'll be interesting to see if the curse is broken. One thing I question is the GOE on her 3-3, it was good but the tiniest bit shaky, which really doesn't deserve +2s, guess the judges are in an inflating mood.
Sakhanovich I thought gave a bit of a weak performance by her standards, and I miss her old transitions into her 3L that she did at her two JGP events. Still she landed the jumps and her SS are great, she does need to work on her posture when landing jumps though.
Medvedeva has improved immensely in her performance ability, it was quite a charismatic and interesting performance. She still needs to work on her speed though it's the one thing that hasn't improved. Her 3-3 looked a little close in rotation and I think they were a little GOE crazy, especially the flying sit spin, that was a bit of a mess. Nice to see her prove she can be up there with her teammates.
Satoko was amazing, the choreography of that program is superb and she performed it really well, I actually saw some facial expression at points. Her jumps have gotten a little bigger and although the lutz was close, I think she did make the rotation on all of them. There's a slight chance she'll move up into the medals, but her low PCS for a great performance is a little worrying to her chances.
Amber Glenn was good, and she performed her program really well, but I still sense a falseness to her artistry and I'm not sure why. She did well on the jumps but I think the back end of her 3-3 was UR and her jumping technique really isn't good, she almost has a hammer toe on her toe-loop.....

It wasn't that bad, but I was so excited seeing her get 69 TES at Glacier Falls with huge jumps, amazing speed and decent programs. She did very well considering her injury though and she has a chance to move up in the FS, I'm just worried she hasn't had the time to practice it much like Li Zijun at CoC. I think the GOE on her spins compared to the Russians' was ridiculous as she easily has the best spins of the field, which is no small feat. I get the feeling the results are already decided, but I really hope someone surprises and totally mixes up the standings, it happened at JGP Riga so you never now.....

Is Satoko wearing braces? That might explain her lack of facial expression when the rest of her body moves so beautifully. Braces are tricky.

Sakhanovich had steps directly into her 3F/3T, and her 3T was a 'tano 3T. The flow wasn't great, but it wasn't a standard 3/3 combination.
