At what time is this meeting?
I have no idea. But it's 5 hours and 20 minutes till midnight in Moscow. I hope we'll get some news soon.

From FSU: confirmation from Vitaly Mutko (Minister of Sport) that I/K are being asked to have proper discussions about the future & consider whether they can resolve whatever the issues are before making the split final.

And this is just ridiculous. I'm russian, and I must say Mutko is just a dumb clown. He can resolve nothing, he's just too stupid and doesn't care.
I hope he still can find right people to do this job for him though

Who knows, it might take more than a day to resolve things - either to patch I/K up and work out where they will be training, because there's no way it would be with Morozov, or to sort out exactly what happens with the new teams.

Another article where Mutko informed them that if both teams split up they can not rely on any Federal funding. Only regional funding would be available that if any regional federation is interested to support the new teams. Basically stating that if they hope for an easy ride into the Team Russia, they can give up right now.

I mean from what I am understanding it's not exactly that he is threatening them- he is stating that they will not be in a team (kind of like the USA with their envelope funding, Russia has their A team, B team, etc and partly this determines what events people are likely to get, and partly it determines funding). He is stating that they are not automatically going to put the couples into their A or B team and that they will first have to figure out regional funding and show some results, at which time they will get onto the A or B team (if all goes well naturally) and be supported.

I do not imagine this will be that hard for either of them to do (find some regional funding and then get onto the Russian team), though I am not positive if this is an additional hoop they have to jump through or just routine when couples of this caliber split up.

So the trial is how much I/K hate each other, could they go that far just because they can't stand each other's face? More drama, more drama!:popcorn::popcorn:

I did not say that it's a threat. He said that they will be treated like everyone else.

I mean, while I am not taking a stance that I think Elena is 'blameless' here, I think she's been pretty clear that if Nikita comes to his senses so to speak, she will take him back. Ball is in his court.

Yes, what you said is broadly right, but I think some couples have been able to bypass it in the past - for example, V/T went straight into the central funding system, but in that case there weren't a great number of senior pair teams, and none of the parties involved had enraged the federation by splitting up a team that was on track to dominate at the world level. It does make things harder for S/K going to NJ in particular though, and I had read on other boards (although I must stress this is completely unconfirmed) that Morozov was expecting his team to get the same support as I/K did, either from the federation or the sports ministry.

Oh I hadn't considered the NJ angle... that is very true, that would make it much harder.

That's true. I think Mutko was responding to TAT's outrage, which possibly is voiced by all Russian coaches, about who will be paying for this catastrophe. I am sure she knew something we do not. I wonder what Morozov is thinking now.

Check and mate! Morozov's plans just bit the dust :) Unless of course S/K's parents are bathing in cash..All I want to know is, who will be their new coach? Further, what would possess S/K to act so irrationally? Lena, may have made her missteps, but in Nikita's place I would pity her, be scared for her even, her being with Morozov and knowing the man he is. JMHO...rather than plotting to leave her I would be plotting to leave Morozov. They are now OC, so expectations are greater, and they have their pride to defend. If they had work ethic issues in the past their results would only spur them on to work even harder, which is in fact what has happened to them this season. Hope dies last they say, and let them return to ZHULIN!

Oh and on the funding issue again - Nikita's comes from the Army I think, but I guess that works the same way? You still have to be put in the funding envelope by the federation's criteria, the only difference is which pot the money comes from? Does anyone know any different?

Even if Nikita is self-funded, he needs support by one of the clubs which is part of the Russian FSF. I guess it depends on how the politics pan out once the dust settles and which power support which side. But since neither RF nor Sports Ministry are jumping on this brilliant idea, I think they are going to have a very hard time breaking through. I am sure Morozov will disappear now that there is no more sponsors.

Yes. I think probably Elena and Ruslan are in a better position to receive support at least at first... they are at least outwardly in a much more sympathetic and blame-free position- they wanted to continue on with their partners for the good of the federation! :rolleye: Additionally, separate from that, the Russian Federation has had a lot of their eggs in Elena's basket in particular for a long time. Many hopes and expectations have been pinned on her since she was a child- in fact, she's kind of like the fed's ice dancing golden girl. It would not surprise me if it were much easier for her and Ruslan to find their footing, at least financially, in the wake of all this. Also, Ruslan's coaches have been explicit that they are going to coach them (I assume probably regardless of funding, they would do so at least for a few months until they can get into the central funding system). It is very unclear right now if Ruslan and Victoria are even partnered and it is EXTREMELY unclear if they have a coach given Mozorov's conspicuous silence.

Morozov breaks silence. http://itar-tass.com/sport/1106392
This is all a very recent news to him so he does not know what's happening. However the situation between E and N has been ongoing for some time. He is going to talk to both.

Holy God, so weird.

Coach Nikolai Morozov plans to meet with the skaters Elena and Nikita Katsalapovym Il'inykh to clarify the future of the athletes, this coach who led the couple Katsalapov / Il'inykh to bronze at the Games in Sochi, said in a conversation with a correspondent of ITAR-TASS.

On Monday, the media reported that Ruslan Zhiganshin, the winner of the World Junior Championships in 2012 and bronze medalist at Russian Nationals in 2014 who is paired with Victoria Sinitsyna expressed a desire to change his partner and start skating with Il'inykh. Sinitsyna, in turn, is going to pursue a career in a duo with Nikita Katsalapovym.

"To be honest, I've learned all this recently - Morozov said by phone. "Although conversations about this went for a long time, so we cannot say that this is a complete surprise. Anyway, I cannot say anything concrete right now. I have not talked Nikita and Elena, but could meet them. "
