His triple axel at nationals was gorgeous.:sheesh:

He failed to land one 3A tonight. Those marks were ridiculous. It's really not fair to other skaters. As a male skater, he has to do 3A, period. Many years ago, many many male skaters were doing quad. It's really regressed a lot technically, Jeff bears responsibility.

If he can't jump, do ice dancing. It's ridiculous to reward such mediocre skaters with those PCS. No wonder figure skating is turning ordinary folks off.

It seems Jeff was clean in the LP. Am I correct?

Jeremy (the new boy on the block) scoring over 200.

Poor Eman. I wonder if Canada will consider sending someone else to Worlds.

I haven't read anything about Evan yet. He's not far behind but he has some catch up to do.

Jeff can still be proud of himself

As my husband says, there's no shame to being outskated. If Evan had the kind of performance tonight that his marks would suggest, then I guess he deserved the win, but Jeff can still be very proud of what he has done, especially with "the season that wasn't!"

Way to go, Jeff! Keep on working your way to Tokyo - one step at a time.

I have to agree with you, I watch mens skating for technicality, for the QUADs, but nobody does quads anymore b/c COP does not reward enough for it. Its sad and it is killing the sport and turning off the fans

Yeah that really shocked me too to see him have the same PCS as Jeff. He definitely didn't deserve that based on what I've seen previously of both their long programs.

Buttle couldn't have skated his long as well as he did at nationals. If he did his PCS would have been a lot closer to eighty. Evan pulls it off again. I was pulling for Buttle a lot.

I used to get annoyed at Lysacek's overscoring but now with Lambiel and Plushenko out I dont really have any interest in the mens event anymore. Now I just use his scores as comedy, they are such a joke, they are funny. I guess I would feel sorry for the skaters who were ripped off by Evan's extreme overscoring except I have too little interest in the mens event until atleast one of Plushenko or Lambiel returns to really care. So I am not emotionaly invested enough to care, I just laugh at it and enjoy the sattire of Evan's farcial scores similar to how I used to with Gritschuk/Platov in the dance event.

 This statement is so ridiculous, it's hilarious! Yeah, Jeff is responsible for every other male skater not landing quads in competition. lol What an intelligent argument. :agree:

WOW how could he score a higher PCS mark than Jeff unless Buttle might have missed a jump or two?

Of course he deserves those high PCS. He has harder jumps, he did 4toe+3toe. What did Jeff do? Not a single 3A????
Give me a break, Mao can actually beat Jeff if you compare both artistry and technical ability.

I really loathe Jeff. He really drags down skating.

See, I have to disagree with you. Not enough quads is not even remotely killing figure skating or turning off fans. If you watch mens skating solely for the jumps, that's up to you, but I, and I think many others, tune in for a lot more than a jumping contest. It's about spins, footwork, programs — and jumps. COP rewards quads plenty.

If Evan does the quad-triple in the short program, he will be a contender for the gold medal at worlds.

I doubt that. You are right that he Evan is one of the most overscored skater ever, but his overscoring will be negated by the overscoring Oda and Takahashi will get by virtue of Worlds being in Japan. If they skate clean at Worlds they will score well over 160 in the long, well over 80 in the short. Joubert will just by virtue of his excellence as a skater this year.
