Drobiazko/Vanagas missed 2003 and 2004 too. They basically retired in 2002 and decided to comeback for the Olympic season in 2005-2006.

Albena Denkova went to 15* Worlds: 4 with Hristo Nikolov (1992-1995) and 11* with Maxim Staviski (1996-2007). *She made Worlds in 2000 but had to withdraw after a collision with Peter Tchernyshev during the practice before the FD.

Ooh yes, my bad. I do admire how D/V managed to compete in five Olympics. And had a pretty successful show career too. Anyone know if they're still skating?

Looking back, it seems like Albena could have done at least one or more worlds too, had Maxim not had his issues.

Are we talking about seniors? If not, then Virtue/Moir made their junior world debut in 2003 and have been at junior or senior worlds every year except 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Aljona Savchenko will compete in worlds 2017 for sure and she has already mentioned that OS 2018 is maybe not the end of her career.

She and Hao Zhang will compete in their fifth Olympic Games with three different partners! Two pair skating legends.

I swear that Elena Liashenko competed for a thousand years. How long did she compete?

Jan Hoffman 1968-1980 (skated 68 Olympics, missed missed 68 & 69 Worlds but competed at Euros; and sat out 74-75 season due to injury); skated in 4 Olympics starting at age 12 in 68 and winning silver in 80 along with 2 world titles.

End of 1993 to to beginning of 2006 so like 12.5 years, for Worlds it would be 12 years, from 1994 to 2006. She's also been to 4 Olympics which is :eeking:

I think Gordeeva made some comment or someone that she couldn't believe Peggy? Koenig was still competing years after she retired.

Elene G from Georgia had her first worlds in 2006... and last ones in 2015... (9 times, skipping 2014 but she did Olympics in 2014)... quite a long career for someone current (well she just retired from competition IIRC)

Yes! Peggy Schwarz did Olympics or Worlds almost every year from 1988-2000 (missed 1995-1996). Four Olympics among them.

Carolina must be one of very few singles skaters in the current field who competed (as seniors) under the 6.0 system, no? It was still in use at Worlds in 2003 and 2004.

Mildly interesting fact: Fumie Suguri is competing at an international competition for adult skaters in Oberstdorf next month.

Patrick Meier from Switzerland went to eight Worlds across 13 seasons from 1992-2004. He mostly finished at the very bottom or didn't qualify for the final, but did have a high of 16th in 2001.

To think, my entire time practicing and competing in the sport spanned about 12 years and we're talking about people who were at the senior level for that length of time!

What about skaters further back in time? I mean those from the 70s and earlier.

In the 70s, 80s and even in the early 90s skaters' amateur careers were shorter. I think it changed with the 1994 comebacks. Petr Barna's career was exceptionally long, he skated at nine Worlds.

Javier Fernàndez skated his 10th consecutive Worlds in Boston, the same with the Europeans.
