cannot believe that nobody (except for randomfan) is mentioning Patrick. Hello? Go watch his step sequences, especially before they changed the rules (2011). He is really the master of one foot skating and effortless turns and steps.
Daisuke's Blues for Klook and Cyber Swan and Yagudin's Winterare legendary; lots of Hanyu's: Seimei for its unusual music and movements, dynamic of Ballade, the campy attitude yet crazy complexity of the Prince step sequence, the whirlwind of this year's SP. And I must admit that Boyang Jin's SP ssq this season is amongst the most enjoyable ones I've ever seen.
I generally find Ladies less memorable, but Wakaba Higuchi's Skyfall and Rika Hongo's Riverdance tood out to me and I second whoever mentioned Katelyn Osmond's Edith Piaff.
I'd cosign most of these but going to add Kaori's Amelie. A lot of attention was paid to the music in the steps and it was always my favorite part of the program.
Agree with the mentions of Virtue/Moir. Imo, no one rivals their midline non-touching step sequences. My favourite one is from their Vanocouver OD, their perfect synchronization is almost unreal: https://youtu.be/c6mge7uZbLo?t=130
And a shoutout to Weaver/Poje. Their circular step sequence in their signature Maria de Buenos Aires FD is beautifully transitioned into from their opening steps, sets the scene and mood, languid to begin but progresses to sharp and fast to capture the musical phasing: https://youtu.be/LL1Lbxk66TM?t=44
This list would not be complete without Jeffrey and the body of his work
Patrick and Kurt are to me, the best ever!
Kaetlyn's La Boheme, Edith Piaf and Black Swan
Caro's Ne Quitte Pas and Ave Maria, ...just beautiful skating
Others for me include LuLu, Michelle, Stephane, Yag, Yuna, Mao, Satoko, Joannie and Jason
So many great performances over the years and a treat for all of us to relive. Thanks for the Thread.
