Maybe the music will overwhelm Brian, but maybe he'll rise to the occasion. One of my favorite lines from poetry is this by Robert Browning: "Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a Heaven for?" If Joubert and Wilson want to reach for something that's just beyond their grasp, hooray for them! I'll tune in eagerly.
The music will overwhelm the skating.

I am psyched that he can land again a fully rotated quad!
The music will overwhelm the skating.

I love especially her SP, it's gorgeus!
It's always lovely to watch Kiira, even when she messes up...I still can't believe that Brian will be skating to this music, it almost makes me cry, lol. I mean the music, of course.
Seriously, this music is so triumphant, aching beautiful, JOYFUL, and heartbreaking that one has to be an accomplished skater to even tackle it.
In the meantime, I will be content to see Brian's version, more than content. Thanks Brian & David!!!!!!

Thanks, Anna, for the links. I especially liked her spin sequence in the long program. I have to say, I'm pleased with the edits that were done to the Evita music to create her long program. There were a lot of melodically interesting segments from the songs and very little dependence on "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina." I only wish they had made use of the syncopation of "I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You," but I'm not sure Korpi's ethereal serenity would be compatible with the calculating come-hither required by that song.
I also liked the arrangement of "Over the Rainbow" for the short program. That single violin gives it a maturity that Korpi carries off very well.
What does anyone make of her chances this year?
Judging from her popped and dumbled jumps at Neblehorn it seem like she's struggling with her usual problems. I think her chances are the same as last year. A world medal is possible but she is one of those skaters who has to be absolutely perfect.
Anyway, I agree about the arrangement of "Over the Rainbow" - it really suits her and luckily the arrangement is not cheesy.
I love her FS costume even though it has little to do with Argentina or Evita than I can see - but who cares?
