2013-2014 Programs by Discipline

I'm happy that Daisuke chose someone other than Morozov to choreograph his LP. I wish he'd gone with a little more interesting choice of music, though. A lot of people have tried Beatles numbers over the years, and I'm not sure how well their music really works on the ice. I never warmed to Michelle Kwan's Beatles SP, and I think Jeremy Abbott also did a Beatles number that I didn't especially care for. But who knows, maybe Dai will find the right touch for it . . .

The dresses are not very nice. Rather cheap and not what I would expect from an Olympic pretender or contender. Disappoingint. Its a stetch to see cleopatra in the white number and the black dress looks rather club skating not Olympic skating.

Yeah, I was a lot more partial to the white dress than the black one. But still, we have to consider that not every skater can necessarily afford to purchase dresses from high-end professionals. I thought that the Cleopatra number was very simple, elegant, and beautiful -- the image Kaetlyn seems to be going for this season. And as long as she's satisfied, I have little room for complaint. :)

That "symphony" is so badly written. Sorry.

The first thing that came to my mind is 'oh I made misspellings on English words again.' lol!
But you meant the music itself. Okay...It is still amaging, I think, that he still continues composing a lot of music even after he lost his hearing ability. As for badly written, well, all I can say is tastes differ in music or in any art. Besides, there were a lot of composers, painters and/or artists who never/seldom got appreciated while they lived in the past. But later (after they passed away, mostly) their pieces of works got re-evaluated and some of them are now called 'genius'. ;)

As for picking up bad/wrong music, no wrorries! I would say. Of course music is very important, but it is not a classical contest. What is the most improtant in figure sating should be skater(s) and its skating, not the music, its composers or choreographers. I know a couple of skaters who can make justice to any music even if it may sound awful and/or to any choreography even if it may look um...trash. And Takahashi sure is one of such skaters. Am I biased??? Oh yes!

It is not the symphony he'll be skating to, so I think it can be good :) Daisuke certainly is a very artistic skater who can pull off a wide variety of music genres.

Skater Boy as you can see with the cutting and pinning in the video the dresses are a work in progress so i am sure the final result will be different.
This is the same dressmaker who made Joannie and Yuna's costumes for the last Olys.

Yeah I wasn't impressed with them either. Kaetlyn looks better without heavy makeup, btw.

The cleopatra dress really is hard to to see the theme. She really needs the neckline hat we have come to expect and some great cuffs. You need a big personality for white to work on ice; she is still quite young. (or off white) this is like a cheaper rendition of Cynthia Phaneuf's cleopatra dress. Let's hope ravi walia says neigh to the dresses. Heck there are some better dresses at the mall she skates at. And the spikey pony tail updo only ight work on the sp program.

Both dresses looks great in Kaetlyn to me. And, I don't think that what we see is the final result. Remember that this designer have did all dresses from Rochette and did the 2 dresses of Olympic champion Kim Yu-Na.

My favorite is the white one. Kaetlyn look like a diva with the white. Very pretty and different from her black outfit.

Takahiko Kozuka just performed his SP at an ice show.
It is Unsquare Dance, choreo Shae Lynn Bourne. He had previously revealed his LP is to Rondo Capriccioso

From the Skate Milwaukee thread, Carly Gold's SP is to Carmen (she won) and Davis & Brubaker's SP is to Latin/tango music.
