2013-2014 Programs by Discipline

I have added the 4 discipline summaries to the front page, finally!

Thanks very much, Doris, for your labor-intensive efforts.

I have been wondering whether the GS software has a wiki feature, so that you would not be doing all the work by yourself to constantly update the summaries as more and more programs become known. I belong to a forum (unrelated to skating) that has a wiki section available right under the first post for each thread. (Wikis also could be helpful for other threads that endure over long periods of time and are updated with news of multiple skaters -- such as the Injuries thread.)

We do archive the old threads, and the most recent prior thread is currently in the Reference section, so the info isn't lost.

I don't know whether vbulletin supports a wiki feature. It looks like there may be an available plugin called MetaWiki, but I doubt we will include it. It sounds like a lot of work to maintain, at least at first glance.

Thanks for the reply. I absolutely support whatever is better for you.

I asked the question because I was hoping to make less work for you, not more ;). Just to be clear that I am taking about a thread-specific wiki:
If GS Member X wants to share that Skater Y's SP will be Music Z, then X not only would add a post to the Programs thread with the news as usual, but also X her/himself could/would add the same information about Y and Z directly to the wiki section on the first page of the Programs thread. So the keeping the master lists up to date would be a shared effort -- instead of you singlehandedly and selflessly taking on the full responsibility as you have in years past (with our gratitude!).
(Sorry if that explanation is unnecessary -- but am not sure why you mentioned the archived threads as part of your response. I do appreciate the archived threads :), but don't see the connection to my wiki question. Sorry if I am being dense, but am wondering whether you were thinking of a different kind of wiki. The option of a thread-specific wiki is available within each separate thread of the other forum that I mentioned. For a complex thread, the wiki can be very useful. For a simple thread, the wiki might well remain empty, because no one feels the need to use it.)

It's my silly brain-I think of two things: one, making data available and easy to locate, and the other making data easier to keep updated. I see wikis as accomplishing both purposes.

Sorry, Doris, but I think you continue to misunderstand most or all of what I was saying. I give up. :bang:

The posts are doris's so obviously she or some other forum administrator can be the only editors of that post. So to edit the master list only Doris could do it or some other administrator. You can obviously still post in the threads and bump them with new info and then hope or ask that they are updated intothe master list. It seems like there will not be a wiki added but all the other options are not difficult- just take more time.

Yes, this is the new SP.

He presents the music very well. Mini Takahashi.

Thanks again! :) He's 15yo already...I sincerely hope he grows a little bit more, at least as tall as Dai /Nobu. Fingers crossed!

Like their other blogs, a well-written and thoughtful read.

Exciting group of collaborators including Michael Jackson's choreographer Travis Payne! and one of his lead dancers Stacy Walker.

Also using section of music recorded just for them by a Japanese music group, 1966 Quartet. Interesting links at the bottom of the announcement.

Wow, interesting!! A Michael Buble SD is totally in their comfort zone. It won't be a stretch, and they should be able to perform it well. But--Michael Jackson for the FD!! That is unexpected. It will be a challenge for them, but we know they can handle the fast tempo, anyhow. This could potentially be a breakout dance for them; I hope so.

Did they also make an announcement? Or is it speculation?
Perhaps today is Canton "reveal" day

That's what I was wondering. Last I heard it was a rumor flying around. Has there been stronger confirmation since then (via official/unofficial sources) Doris?

What a through entry. And both sound promising. The SD, as everyone noted, is very up their alley and should highlight their best features.

And the FD, after reading the blog entry, sounds promising. I like that they're doing a mixed of classical/pop in their melody rather than straight up Michael Jackson covers the whole way through. Also "Wanna Be Starting Something" is like one of my favorite MJ songs ever.

Here's a few videos of the 1966 Quartet.

Thriller- Michael Jackson

We Will Rock You - Queen

Help!- The Beatles

I think it's cool they're working with young Japanese musicians. That's going to be a fun collaboration.

Looking at Stacy Walker and Travis Payne's bios are fascinating. Walker's work includes work with G-Dragon, who is a very popular K-Pop artist. Payne has also worked with 2NE1, who is on the same label as G-Dragon. Payne's also worked with numerous pop artists and movie stars.
