2014 Cup of China Mens Short Program 11/07

He couldn't add the combo after the 3T which was supposed to be a 4T. At least he "saved" the lutz.

He could have added a 2t to tick off the combo requirement but with the way he landed his Lutz, I don't think that was possible.

I'm ok with the placing. I'm ok with the scores as well, but if people are complaining about Yuzuru's PCS than I bring out Kovtun.

Yuzuru's PCS are great, I don't know what to complain about. I mean he even has 9.75 from some judges. And he wasn't perfect today, so...
I must say that Max's PCS are really high too. Good for him.

Well this pretty much looks like the top 3 is over marked (predetermined PCS) while Richard Dornbush is undermarked in PCS at least consider how they actually did.
LOL at the 9 for interpretation and skating skills for Kovtun.

Completely agree with you, 'top' indeed. Hopefully the FS tomorrow will be better, honestly.
Air pollution and poor ice quality may come into play. This is the second time in the row COC has been disappointing. It may not be the skater's fault.

In your opinion.

A quote from Hanyu's post-SP interview.
"It's very regrettable. I'm surprised I'm in second place with the what I did today."
-Hanyu isn't hesitant to say when he's been over scored.

In your opinion.

Actually not just my opinion, other judges too.

Kovtun got some 2x 8.0 and 3 x 8.25 for his skating skills. I would put him at 8.0
He also received a 7.75 for his interpretation, along with his 8.0 and 3x 8.25s. I would give him 8.0 only because I am being generous to Russia #1 and all :P

Are people seriously nipticking about Hanyu's +3GOE,cus you won't see anything better. It's a shame the camera angle doesn't capture it but he has great height and distance on it as well, plus the entry/exit,overall flow and timing with the music. It checks all boxes
I would have put him between 79-80,even he looked surprised when he saw the scores

He has a really good sense of self-awareness. Hes always either this  or  when he gets scores he thinks is "gifted". But I agree, it was an overall generous PCS panel, at least for the top few.

Yes. But judges also disagree with you about Dornbush. Double standarts? So typical.

Such a nice and honest young man. Off ice, he is A+ for his conduct.

Well judges got a few things right and wrong. Nothing wrong to point those out. Problem with Dornbush is he is not an Jeremy, Adam, Max, Jason. He suffers frmo 4/5th syndrome that limit his PCS potential. But we are talking about what is delivered on the ice today, not predetermined result. I expect his PCS to rise at FS if he delivers. It usually takes the judges 1 or 2 performances before they reward the right PCS.

No, some are complaining that Yuzuru got overscored there. So, I was saying that if Kovtun get 41 then 44 for Yuzuru are well deserved, and even too close.

Of course. :rolleye: I know exactly what do you think they got wrong. Like I said, double standarts. Like I said, so typical.

Good luck to Dornbush btw, I don't have anything against him or his skating. And I'll be glad for him IF he'll skate good. Just like I was glad for Max today :)

You're right.
I completely forget about 2 jumps when it comes to Yuzuru.
