2015 Cup of China Ladies Short Program

The height Courtney gets on her jumps (especially the 3F) never fails to make my jaw drop...

That biellmann though

Pretty decent skate by Courtney, but there are some rough areas (e.g., Biellmann spin) in that program/in her skating still. I would like to see her improve her flexibility (and change her hair colour so it doesn't clash with her dress :slink:).

:handw: I see you, Courtney's Lucky Giraffe.

British Eurosports commenting about how unique Feeling Begins is as skating music.... Maybe they haven't heard of someone named Michelle Kwan?

Mao's transitions seemed just fine to me, the Russian ladies have way too many transitions and it looks busy and does nothing for the program

Well, "just fine to you" doesn't cut it, when you see the juxtaposition at a competition. Doesn't have to be too busy, but arm movements and crossovers aren't going to cut it, no matter how beautiful the edges..

Rika still needs to work on her posture. Also she has Gracie Gold arms. Good speed though.

Loved Courtney's program and her much improved total package. I always disliked the blonde on her so the hair color is a big plus and the costume is lovely. If she can make the combo a 3/3 she will really be a force at U. S. Nationals.

People keep harping on about how Gracie Gold should be doing a Loop instead of Flip in short. Can we instead move that for Mao now? She has such a secure loop, at least when not in a combination, and yet they're still going for the precarious Lutz.

Why not just go triple flip triple toe and then a loop. Out goes the edge call, out goes the >

I think that was the original layout: 3A, 3F-3T and 3L, but Sato said Mao wanted to change it to 3A, 3F-3L, and 3Ltz. Mao said she wanted to try it and she's been working on the 3Ltz and has been feeling better with it.
But I just think kudos, she's out there to challenge the most difficult layout, why not go for it, I think the goal is challenge. If her goal was scores, a safer layout would be more desirable, but I don't think that's the reason Mao is back.
