2015 Cup of China Ladies Short Program

Medvedeva's quality was really not that great. Mao's jumps are better in quality. Much better.

Not in this performance they weren't. The lutz edge was not good and she barely rotated the jump. The jump combo rotation was also a bit too lacking. Medvedeva deserved higher scores for her jump combo and solo jump in comparison.

3Axel from Mao was a good job but still tight on the landing.

Mao's program is underwhelming IMO. None of the spins really go with the music. Her movement isn't sultry enough. She finished a bit ahead of the music in this particular performance as well. I hope they rework the program.

It still deserves to be the highest scoring SP of the grand prix so far but I don't think it was significantly better than what we've seen.

Probably x2 in each competition esp in early Grand prix where the aim is prob to medal well?

so by GPF - its been through 4 judging calls, and if done again in GPF - 6,
Helps to build up to a goal in worlds?

And I guess doing it once - well it does force you to do better and at least more scrutiny = more observation to improvements?

If they keep hating it then, it would come to a point where she would drop it. But not without tryin it for quite a few times!

You are probably right. Let's see how it goes in the following competitions. So far, no harm done:dance3:

Any rational person would think that....but.....

Although I'm hoping no one misconstrues this with what I think about what Kori Ade has to say. In that case I agree.

That thread and not one mention in it (that I've seen) of Anna P's coach being told on this forum time after time to smile. :)

Agree. Plus Evgenia's skating is mature and not juniorish at all. She doesn't look like a child among the previously senior ladies.
this
Imo it stems from her being very mature as a person
& The audience felt that & supported her that much as I havent really expected being non american & straight out of juniour!

I still dont understand what jump qualities got to do with the bulk of the PCS. Other than interupting the flow of the programme....

But I think Medvedeva was the best in SA, (at least i subjectively felt so!)

But why not test the waters with only one 3Lz in the LP? She can add it to the Sp once the edge becomes better. I would hate to see her lose a world title by some 1-2 points thanks to edge calls.

I'm not sure about how much she cares about points and world titles anymore. She keeps challenging herself, doing the best she can, skating for passion, never playing it safe and never holding back. I think she will stick with this layout and will work hard to stabilize her lutz and 3-3 combination. Anyway, she just hit the most difficult SP ever. Incredible, she's a hero.

Evgenia's PCS were very overscored. But Ashley's PCS honestly seemed about right other than TR and a bit of SS. But yeah, I agree with you. Mao was deducted way too much. Her performance was beautiful :). Like many people say it's so great to have her back after a season with no veterans at all. In that case, maybe the judges wanted to keep her scores low for the beginning of the season?

If Mao's scores are kept low purposely as you say while others are scored generously or given the scores they deserve, then it is unfair punishment for her high level of achievement. I don't agree that Ashley's PCS scores should be this close to Mao's. I liked Evgenia's performance a lot, but I still think there should be more distance between her and Mao's PCS.

hmm what's wrong with being called beautiful......:scratch3:

I think I know what Warwick is referring to, but I will keep my mouth shut or better put, my hands away from the letters on my keyboard ;) I am sending some positive vibes now :ghug:
I hated it so much @ test skates & was sure when she is competition ready I gonna love it & it predictably happened
Tho I still hate both music choices with a passion

What I like about Elena is how natural it looks, all her emotes, the movements of her arms, what she does with her eyes, it´s not like she is playing someone, but actually is that person.

There are not many skaters who are able to do this and I think as older she will become, as better this will be and she will profit from it greatly in future.

if the lutz is given the "e" the judges are REQUIRED TO deduct in GOE

I'm aware of that, I agree with -1s for sure (which was what a majority of judges gave it), as the takeoff edge wasn't clean (obviously, Mao has always struggled with her flutz). I just found it interesting that a couple of the judges thought it deserved less than that...Each to their own, I guess.

Also, "a little confused" was my edit to replace what was apparently foul language (I don't post often, I generally just lurk so didn't realise that abbreviations would get blocked out oops). I guess I'm not really confused, I just don't really agree, haha.

You're right but I was talking about their jumps in general. Evgenia's jumps gain high GOEs because of the tanos and she manages to rotate them, but the jumps themselves do not look good.

I might sound selfish in saying this, but I 'm feeling that I don't care what happens with the entirety of both of his programs as long as he lands the Quad Lutz. Needs compensating after having to see all the Rippon Quad Lutz attempts. :hap85:

Also watching Dance rerun on B.Esp, and Madison being called beautiful. Hoping Twitter doesn't blow up with ....you know what.
Although in his defence he did say his eyes were on Bates.

I'm not a big fan of anything else aside from Boyang aside from jumps, so I'd have to agree. It would be quite amazing to land it on his senior debut in front of the a home crowd so if he does, major props to him! Oh, and Adam...

And now +1 to Russian ladies! There are too many awesome Russian ladies.... and I worry about puberty for Evgenia :( Please let her survive it :(

That thread and not one mention in it (that I've seen) of Anna P's coach being told on this forum time after time to smile. :)

She needs the smile frankly. Not from me. Just googled her and the forum had something not flattering to say about the aura she exudes. Which brings back to the point that they're there to coach. But for me Kori doesn't need to smile to seems radiant. :luv17:

I srsly dont get why people complain about Zhenya's PSC at SA
Imo both her programms this year are spectacular:love: & such great interpretation.

Some people forget that judges are made up of nine independent opinions assessing their own values and qualities. They instead just draw their own conclusion...leave out others opinions...and then call people bias.

I'll take the awesomeness of Boyang's Jumps and take Martinez's awesome Spins in sight today. :)

Forgot Martinez was gracing the ice with his spins. :cool2:

Does anyone else feel Rika was bit underscored on PCS compared to the Russian girls? Specifically on choreography, performance and interpretation. I might be a bit subjective since I LOVE Rika's SP.

haha never been called rational thx for the comliment!
but Im really shallow & like to watch beautiful people doing beautiful things. (hell NickVick is my fav dance team -ultimate shallowness!)

I dont dare to go to that thread:dbana: (& I want Frank Carrol to be asked to smile btw
Mishin is asked so why not him too!:cool2:)

I always thought people asked coaches to smile, cause I thought to ?support your student (esp if your student is also trying his/her best to smile despite a bad skate?)
