2015 Finlandia Trophy Ice Dance SD and FD

Never liked Delmaestro/Lum, but I really feel for them. Not very good senior debut

Loved, loved, loved WP's short dance. They still have tons of work to do on it, but it's really fun and promising, cannot wait to see how they going to develop it. So far, hands down my fave SD of the season.
Really liked HB too, wondering why their score was that low.

Yeah, not loving the SDs unfortunately. And the standing turned out exactly how I expected, not how I hoped, but how I expected. I like HB a lot, but in many ways they are still a junior team. However, I have high hopes for them in a couple of years and expect them to improve significantly this season. I was hoping that maybe they could make Worlds this year, but maybe not... I'll wait and see their FD.

Can't wait for the Parsons and m/c get to seniors and put all these teams to shame. Anthony Ponomarenko and partner too. So much more talent and much more entertaining. Very telling that half of them got higher scores than most everyone here.

They also got it at Lake Placid International, which they won.

Great to know  I believe this is my first time seeing them as a team, though I remember her past partnership of course. I was actually really impressed!

Agree. I'm uber excited for them to do seniors when they get there.

The JGP circuit this year was vastly overscored. There is absolutely now way that you can compare junior to senior scores right now. They need to get the junior judging teams back on track so that the SB rankings make more sense at the end of the year.

So Kaitlin and Jean-Luc got a Level 1 on their first Ravensburger pattern section despite hitting every key point. I feel like Jean-Luc lost his hold on her or something near the end of the pattern, but I need to see the video again.

Yeah they made some obvious mistakes. You could tell they knew, Kaitlin looked upset coming off the ice and at the K&C. I still say, it would have been nice if they could have scored closer to 60, I was hoping for a high 50s or 60 score, but... it wasn't there today. Mid 50s is ok. It is workable for them, I never thought they would be scoring mid to high 60s like the top teams.

They got a Level 4

Yeah, I was just coming to correct myself. Sorry for the mis-info, guys! I think their first pattern looked mistimed to me so I expected to see a problem or Ts but apparently it was fine. At least they managed a Level 4 in one of the pattern sections. Re watching I really like the partial step sequence, and it's nice the audience gets into it.

Hopefully they will do better tomorrow with their free.

This isn't true? They actually got a level 4 on it though the GOE was not high. On the second one they got only a level 2 though. Their other steps also only got level 2; and twizzles were level 3. Lift was level 4. Really it wasn't all that bad level-wise except on the level 2 step sequences, but they also got VERY little positive GOE on anything but the lift. Anyway it's clear what needs work.

ETA sorry cross posted

Just went to look at the protocols and I almost screamed.

55.60?!? 55?!? WHAT HAPPENED?!?
