The Japanese commentator is keep saying Satoko's programme is flamenco. I heard it is Riverdance. I'm confused

Satoko's skating to Firedance, a flamenco. Riverdance is the irish music Rika has for FS

Mao is a very inconsistent skater as expected. When people were automatically crowning her the World title, I had serious doubts about that... And look what happened.... Ouch.

No one was automatically crowning her. We all said that if she is sort of clean she is going to win. Which is still true. She is the best skater currently competing when she is at her best. She was not today, nor she was in China, but the season is far from over

I agree (except with Mao UR'ed her 3T since she did not even try a 3T today) but I still think that on SS part of PCS, Mao should have the best score in the competition. Just IMO

I agree, Mao has sublime skating skills. I just find it funny that people get bitchy about inflation of scores and skaters being held up even when their performances are lackluster, and some of those same people complain when justified scores are given for bad skates to people they like. Mao had a bad skate. She was scored correctly. This shouldn't be controversial.

Recap: Asada in 4th, Wagner in 3rd, Pogo in 11th, and Miyahara in 1st. Also, Mirai with her best skate in seasons and Courtney being in 2nd. Who could've predicted?

Well, the Free will certainly be interesting. Hopefully the ladies bring it by tomorrow; maybe a Mao comeback is in store for us tomorrow, or an Ashley warrior moment, or Pogo in Skate Canada 2014 mode, or perhaps Satoko skating clean? Gosh, I hope the ladies pull it together by tomorrow.

I agree, she looks stunning but, most of the Russian Ladies do.

She's not going to get the "good height and distance" bullet point for jump GoE... but that's just one bullet point out of eight.

On that basis, it's your % penalty for smaller jumps, that makes no sense, to me.

I don't think all bullet points should be equal. The nature of a jump means in a sport certainly means certain qualities are more important than others. That is why we have a long jump competition, a high jump competition. These quality are the most important in 'jumps', otherwise it is like saying a Quad = a 2t

Could be some sort of a flamenco-inspired number in Riverdance perhaps??

On the bright side:
1. The Japanese audience is incredibly supportive to all skaters. No wonder they're experiencing such a boom on both sides of the industry (competitive and financial success).
2. The judging was fair and non-partisan, Mirai's underscoring aside. No ridiculous Rostelecom Cup-esque scores like we saw last week.
3. Satoko is magical and I hope she continues to improve - I foresee tremendous things from her. Even with the lack of height, her performance and choreography are beautiful and refined and continue to get better with each outing. She is a sheer pleasure to watch.
