Skate Canada did not invite Nam to the gala. He later got invited per this tweeter. I don't know when he got the message and if he arrives in time.

Sorry, I think there is a misunderstanding. Beverley Smith is expressing disappointment because she thinks that Nam deserved to be in the gala - "earned his way" by his performance - but he isn't there because he wasn't invited. At all.

same here I think she just meant to say that he totally should have been there because he earned his spot, but that he wasn't invited for whatever reason. Didn't see no invitation anywhere

They have spotlights and cameras on the skaters standing idly along the boards, while the men are doing quads on the other side of the rink in the dark. :sarcasm:

Actually, I am missing it, too. maybe I wanted to believe he get late invitation? I interpreted that way... Anyway the tweet is not official.

It is frustrating he did not get an invitation in the first place, but then.... nvm... now is the finale and no sign of Nam. :hopelessness:

That closing number was... erm... it had... the worst camera and light I've seen in any gala in recent year. Yeah.

(Also, shame on you Skate Canada, for the insult and humiliation you threw at Nam NGuyen's face by not inviting him even though he's your current National champion. It's a disgrace).

That is all credited to the lovely choreography of Nanami Abe. Of course we can always count on NHK to get a good finale

IMHO, Zhulin is having a creative crisis or something is up. Is this the same man who gave the circus program to Pechalat/Bourzat? Has his focus switched to Z/G? That gala from B/S is just...there are no words.

It's like Skate Canada can't handle having more than one top skater to focus on? So strange. If people wonder why the depth of Canadian men dropped off after Chan in past years, this might explain it...

I could not agree more. This decision was insulting. It's not like he skated poorly or was somehow undeserving. And I refuse to accept that they "forgot."

I mean... your National Champion is not invited to skate in the gala of his home GP?

On a separate topic: It seems that you have taken to "shootin' it straight" and I like it.
