2015 Worlds Men Short Program March 27

Well, the highlights for me were the Italian and the Israeli from the first group. I could have just gone to bed after that instead of staying up until 8am. I'm going to bed now.

Bleh. I don't like the GOE scoring on hanyu's combo. 1 Judge gave him a +3 and another +2... ....

And Brendan Kerry qualified! Aussie Aussie Aussie!

OI OI OI!

Can't watch but... How did kovtun get better PCS than josh?

Did he really? I didn't notice that. What a laugh.

Can we also please talk about:

Kovtun: 4S-3T, 1A, 1T

is somehow ahead of

Kerry: 4T, 3Lz-3T, 3A (step out)?

Granted, only by half a point, but still...

Holy guacamole I just realised Brendan's TES was higher than Josh's. That's a minefield of emotions I don't want to explore right now. :hopelessness:

I wonder too. Not about your consumption but the scores.

Javier's skate was sloppy in some parts... his combo and axel were off-axis... his spins weren't that great.

Hanyu had a big error on the quad, but everything else was solid. That being said, he doesn't deserve more than 93-94, and arguably Javier should still be leading given his clean skate.

Nam 9th and Brown in 6th! Very pleasant surprises, but obviously there was quite a bit of collateral (Farris/Mura/Kovtun) that got them there. IMO, Brown and Yan should be ahead of Ten.
I agree. Denis was over scored with two big errors and I just did not see the performance value of Sergei today

Could you explain me why Yuzuru is over Javier????? Do I smoke :hb: I didn't have time for a coffee...Why Denis10 got over Han Yan (sorry, I haven't seen Han Yan's SP)...

Hanyu 2nd half loaded. Got higher GOE on his 3A. Better spins, better step seq. Not sure I agree with the score, but just explaining, in terms of numbers, why.

Way overscored: Hanyu and Ten...

It reminds me of Patrick Chan being overscored time and time again.

But it was a fun event, a lot of unexpected stuff and I am glad I got to watch and discover all 30 of them. ;)

Big ouch at Kovtun's TES score. I know he's the skater who we love to hate, but that's pretty rough. Lucky for him, all the guys bombed, so even he has a chance to pull up.

He should go for 3 quads, 2 axels in his FS... might as well.

Have you seen Torvill/Dean Bolero?

I have, it was actually the bit of skating that made me realise Ice Dancing could be absolutely epic, when I watched it on You Tube that is...they performed it the year I was born! It was genius how they got the program to go longer by not standing up until nearly a minute in...since it is a very long piece in its entirety. But I was thinking more in terms of single skaters and Boleros when I mentioned Plushy, plus you know the fan bias.

Wow, the way things are going, no country is going to have 3 spots for next year. FS will determine all!

I was thinking the same thing, but I don't know the rules for awarding spots when only one skater is in the event... like Spain and Kaz.

I suspect it wouldn't matter. I don't know if Spain and Kaz have three skaters with the TES to qualify.
