2015 Worlds Men Short Program March 27

lol, saying Mura has more potential than Kozuka is ridiculous. Given, Kozuka is inkonsistent, but he was 3rd at last years nationals and didn't get sent to the olympics, now 2nd at this years nationals and you want to leave him out, too? That would have been really unfair.

Voronov and Kovtun getting more PCS than Hanyan and Rippon is the real drama.

well, I adore Kozuka and I think he has one of the best SS in the world but to be honest he has always been inconsistent and has always had an average-low % on quads, plus he sometimes does stupid mistakes on steps or spins... That's why I say Mura has more potential because he's way better on jumps (no in PCS at all) and being able to do 2 quads and all the triples in a free is always a big starting point.
Kozuka did his best performance (not a good one, only his best) of his last 3 years during nationals... what about all his remaining competitions? Only one decent competition in years doesn't explain anything :ohwell:

Could you explain me why Yuzuru is over Javier????? Do I smoke :hb:
If you do smoke, make it ribs or salmon.

Looking at the protocols, Yuzu has two jumping passes in the 2nd half, so he gets bigger base value. Since his butt did not touch the ice on the 4T, no automatic deductions or automatic -3 GOE. He also has better spins, and lv4 steps instead of 3. All the little things added up to 1.29 pts advantage in TES.

Yuzu will always edge out Javi in PCS, save for a total meltdown.

Terrible WC for Russia honestly. Only the ladies (specifically Liza and Lena) doing their best.

To be fair, Pairs still maintained 3 spots, and T/M gave a fantastic SP + FS. (Honestly, Russia could have hoped for a medal with Stolbova/Klimov withdrawing and pinning their hopes on K/S, but huge difficulty from D/R and S/H blocked out the top 2 spots and home ice and decent skates by P/T and P/Z took them out of podium contention.

Maxim got like the 25th highest TES, but 5th highest PCS?

eta: If he were (imo) an amazingly artistic skater, I'd get it. If he had really well-constructed programs, I'd get it. But....

Almost as crazy as Russia losing 3 spots in ice dance!!! What is going on with these Worlds?! :drama: :drama: :drama:

With how Mura and Kozuka skated all the season, I am not surprise. Hope for better skate tomorrow though.

Edit: Btw to all people who criticize Hanyu but not talk about Kovtun and Voronov pcs:shrug:

PCS...It's the new Tapping Your Feet Under The Table...

Well I don't expect the FS to be better since they are happening tomorrow...no day rest in between. If we think they are the most physically demanding, why back to back men's competition?

Protocol thoughts:

One of the judges actually gave a -1 to that 4T of Hanyu :laugh2:

Jason with + or neutral GOE on EVERYTHING from every judge - all +1s and +2s on the 3A.

Rippon: 4Lz<< (and why one judge with the -2 instead of -3?), 3Lz<-3T. All level fours though so I hardly see any picking on him.

Joshua: Level 4s on everything with all positive GOE for spins and steps (a few 3s, plenty of 2s and some 1s). No ! on the 3F!!!!!

Kovtun: What the...? Judges handing out +GOE like candy.

Brendan: mostly + or neutral GOe on the quad except for one joker with the -1, hurt a lot in levels especially the botched spin. But sorry, I'd love to sit the judges down in front of the replay of Brendan's 3A step out and Hanyu's 4T fall and ask how on earth they can justify all -2s and a -3 for Brendan but have -1s for Hanyu.

95+ should only be for Excellent performances. So many guys barely hit 90 with lights out performance e.g. Yan SP CoC 2013 and yet Hanyu manage to score this high with a fall and a sloppy combo.

Can I say the odd silver lining is the United Nations thing we have going with the final group? Six skaters, six different countries!

Top 10 has different countries too! And hey Canada looks good to keep 2 spots!

Yeah, now that you mention it it's pretty cool to say how varied the final order of countries represented is... :)
