2015 Worlds Men Short Program March 27

If Yuzu doesn't win, and Mura and Taka have LPs similar to their SP performances, will Japan lose its 3 spots? sorry if this has already been discussed, I have not followed this thread closely.

Yes, because they'll just get 16 points, which is already over 13...

MR. P or someone wrote somewhere I think that if Hanyu wins, Mura and Taka must be in top13 ( ?? )

If Yuzuru win, Kozuka or Mura must bein top 12. So thier placement score will be less than 13

I said that Javier was going to do better than people predicted in the predictions thread ;) Also that Denis wouldn't do as well as he did in 4CC. This is why I don't want the guys peaking at smaller compeitions....the skating gods only allow the men one peak per season (at most)! :drama: So far only Yuzuru and Javier hasn't peaked (of the top tier)

Yay for Yuzuru not having a disaster skater! He was an anomaly for me. Haven't watched the videos yet. Looking at his score (based on what people said) as a whole gave me a surprise although now that I looked at the protocools comparatively, the score made sense. I can more or less agree with whats on paper but I can see why some may think it should be lower. Man, that kid is one of true pattern. Terrible start to seasons, then gets whole lot better at GPF, then does well/okay at nationals, then has a not so great SP at WC and come back fighting with LP. Almost 4 years running with this timeline  I guess we'll see how that last part holds up tomorrow.

-The Japanese men's 3 spots.....Kozuka and Mura's gotta have the skate of their lives tomorrow to save that mess. (Or they need some of the men ahead to implode which is more probable.)
-My heart.....goes out to kovtun. That was cruel...and I didn't even watch yet!

No, if Yuzu wins, one of them will have to reach Top 12. The magic sum is 12.

Edit: Damm it, wrong again! The combined placement mustn't be higher than 13.

Highest 2 placements combined must not be higher than 13 combined. If Yuzuru wins, Mura OR Kozu must be at least 12 I think (at least one of them, not both)

That's Mrs. P to you. :D

If Hanyu wins, then Mura or Taka has to be at least 12th, which is totally possible given the close margin of the scores atm, especially if 175+ Skate Canada Mura shows up tomorrow. I'm not too optimistic about Kozu's prospects (I love him though!) given he hasn't skated a clean FS all season in international comps.

Shoma himself didn't want to compete in senior worlds this year, because he wanted to win Jr. Dice totally bombed his FS in national (even below a 15-yo Sota if I'm not mistaken). IMO JSF made the right decision.

Don't agree with this. The only three reliable skaters for Japan at worlds would have been Hanyu, Machida (not an option, but JSF should have tried harder and treated him better) and Uno. Kozuka has three bad skates for every good skate. Mura has been struggling. JSF got what was obviously probable.

I think you guys are overblowing it a bit with the flag. It's a different color. If you change the colors of a flag, it's no longer that flag. Yeah, it looks kinda like it, but from what I understand that's just a common decorative theme in Japan, not a pro-nazi statement. That's like Buddhists using swastika, people don't seem to mind it.

The Hindu/Buddhist Swastika (=the real Swastika) is the other way round than the Nazi Swastika.

Well had had WW2 to great extent in history class at school. But then I'm German. We learned quite a few things about the war in the far east and know about the feelings (until today) in Korea and China towards Japan. But this flag thing associated with the term "Rising Sun" isn't widely known in Europe, I suppose.

Now, I'm a tiny bit wiser. What about the term/expression "Land of the Rising Sun"

Sorry, for being off topic.

I believe the term "land of the rising sun" is a literal translation of the two kanji that make up "nihon", the country's name in the japanese language.

The rising sun flag, however...may as well be holding up a swastika flag in Poland.

But following the same logic.. If there were blue swastikas used in Europe (or basically, used by anyone who is not a buddhist)... you don't think that would offend people? I too, think the fan with that banner, is not out to spur Japanese nationalism and hate on China, but it's worth considering one's choice in banners..

My only concern is that Javi seems to have most of his problems in the FS...but I still hope he has worked on it enough to skate it reasonably clean (for once) tomorrow! :drama:
