2015 Worlds Men Short Program March 27

Now with Liebers out :disapp:, I'm rooting for Bychenko to get that 2nd spot for Israel. I really enjoyed Samohin at Euros. So hopefully he can shine next year at Worlds :)

Such a coincidence! At the Olympics, Yuzuru and Jason were 1st and 6th respectively after the SP and the same happened here. Not only that, but also at the Olympics, Jason skated last, and he's skating last here as well.

That bad, huh?

At least this time he wasn't the sole representative like in 2013, so that should be a bit of a relief. But really... popping jumps is really bad (imo) - it just signals "I give up". Just go for the full rotation and eat the fall! More real points from judges and brownie points from me. ;)

But you understand what I mean by that comparison, yes?

Holy crab! And Yuzuru is skating 4th to last like he did at the Olympics! :O

I think you guys are overblowing it a bit with the flag. It's a different color. If you change the colors of a flag, it's no longer that flag. Yeah, it looks kinda like it, but from what I understand that's just a common decorative theme in Japan, not a pro-nazi statement. That's like Buddhists using swastika, people don't seem to mind it.

Buddhists is the other way around, I don't think it is your place to tell people what they can and can't be offended by, my family was one of the many families who were very adversely affected by what happened in that way, it is a sore subject for my parents and grandparents. This will be my final post on this matter, it was just one fan so it's not a big deal but "people don't mind it" is a huge generalization.

and I thought the champion would automatically get 3 spots for their country regardless of the placements of the other skaters, have I been wrong all this time? I always thought with the depth in Japan they would be cushy but I didn't think this would happen

Jason's skated last in his final major international competition the last FOUR years! Also at 2012 and 2013 Jr. Worlds as well.

I like him too! Much more than Bychenko, sadly...he seems like a nice guy, but so boring, with tragic taste in costumes.

That only applies if you are the only skater/couple from your country competing. EX: France got 3 ID spot with Papdakis/Cizeron winning the championship. (Ironically had the French fed bothered to send another dance pair...that wouldn't have happened --- or it would have been less likely that second couple would have finished in the top 12).

re: toys
I read that Jason gives all the toys to some charity right?
will he do it with the toys from Shanghai?

That is only true if he/she was the sole skater from his/her country. (actually the sole skater only need silver for 3 spots)

He was announced at the beginning of the season as being a representative for Ronald McDonald's toy donation thing-y, so he probably still is.
