Denney/Frazier's Lion King FS was, I thought, tasteful and non-cringey. It was pretty subtle and I think that is why it worked.
It also was one of the few programs I thought made fantastic use of lyrics too

Nice, emotional choice, and I'm very excited for her Jeff Buttle program as well.
Not a big fan of Tom's 'not iconic music so you can't use it' -- that's what suppresses creativity and if other coaches are like this, could be part of the explanation as to why we hear those warhorses all the time...
Any word on Gracie's programs?

Not happy about Mirai's choice. I don't like Beatles and Abba programs, cover versions or originals. There were a few Beatles programs that did the music justice and matched the mood and beat, like Gilles/Poirier or Rippon, but haven't seen one for Abba music yet. IMO most of it isn't suited to gliding, stroking, jumping and spinning, and I can't imgine a program that would match the beat of a song like Winner Takes It All. I didn't like Butyrskaya's version, I doubt I'll like Mirai's but we'll see.
On a positive note, still no Phantoms confirmed. That's good news as far as I am concerned.
This version is rather poignant actually. Looking forward to what she does with it.
Stepanova/Bukin is doing hip hop for SD. http://fs-gossips.com/stepanova-bukin-short-dance-consists-of-hip-hop-and-blues/ Didn't thought there would be so many teams choosing that option.
The rules for the Short Dance require skaters to have a change of rhythm this year, so they have to do hip-hop or swing in addition to the blues.
I know that. I'm suprised so many teams are choosing hip-hop instead of swing as the second rythm.
The rules for the Short Dance require skaters to have a change of rhythm this year, so they have to do hip-hop or swing in addition to the blues. With the success of "Hamilton" on Broadway, hip-hop is suddenly a very popular rhythm.
