Yikes, not Matteo's day today...

Nope, he won't be challenging for a result of over 200 overall this week.

Unless of course he puts in the FS of his life.

53.78 for the SP. (His absolute PB for the SP is 74.91)

He looks scundered.

Didn't see Sumoto and Kovalev, so I can't judge where he will go compared to them.

But, I would have Torgashev somewhere in between the Koreans. Probably nearer the Southerner.

EDIT: WOW! I knew it was good, but I wasn't expecting him to be that close to Cha! We have a competition on our hands!

Strictly speaking in terms of SS, Andrew should be getting better marks than any one else in juniors.

Ted was surprised that Peter Liu was looking so happy despite not having a great skate.

Well, I just looked up his Stats On Ice profile, and that was actually an absolute PB score!

Plus, unless Curran has missed something, this is Peter's first Junior competition (he was competing at Novice level last season).

So, no wonder he was happy!

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

Repeated JHC's 3A 10 times in slow motion and never once saw an underrotation.

Yeah, I rewatched it to make sure, and I just don't see it. Well, I guess we can't expect to see too many quads ratified in the free...

Plushenko music.

Not a Plushenko skate, though.

Iliya is another guy who has only just moved up from Novice level. But, he doesn't look as happy as Peter was.

New absolute PB for the SP, but still not happy.

For the record, Iliya's previous absolute PB for the SP was 38.71 from the Coupe de Printemps a few months ago. And that was at Novice level.

So far Artem is virtually tied for 4th with a German and North Korean. Although I think the podium is going to be Cha, Andrew, & Alexei in some order regardless. Then again, Yaroslav could make things interesting if he actually skates as well as he's capable of.

Go Donovan & Yaroslav!

Right enough. I hadn't looked that carefully at the scores.

Aha! A skater representing Mexico that was actually born there. Looking forward to seeing him.

Personally, I'm looking forward most to seeing Josh Brown. He was disappointing at his last Junior GP, so I hope he can properly show off what he is capable of this week. Especially since the TV series he features in starts again on Tuesday.

But, Paniot will undoubtedly be the guy to watch in this group in terms of challenging for the top positions. He's another member of the 200-club.

All the best guys!

What a fun routine! He looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself. And it was enjoyable for us to watch.

This is going to score well. (I hope!)

Mmmm. Not the performance I was expecting from Jaroslav.

And I thought he would score lower than he did.

So, I think he should be relieved with 3rd.

Thomas Stoll upped his PB by nearly 11 points. Wow.

Disclaimer: that's his ISU PB. His absolute PB from February's Hellmut Seibt Memorial was 55.76.

So, still a new absolute PB.

:cheer: Josh B now! :cheer:

Catching up on this thread ...

Ted did not sound surprised, IMO.
He simply made an observation that Peter looked happy -- and Peter indeed did look happy.

Anyway, I enjoyed Peter's skate as well as his positive demeanor.

Enjoyed Torgashev as well.
Hope he will make the podium.

Better luck to Matteo :ghug: in the FS ... and good luck to all.

Didn't spot his girlfriend in the background of any of the camera shots this week, so maybe that's why Josh Brown did better this time... :p

He has done better in the past, but that was far better than he did in Ljubljana.

Josh is only a couple of points behind 8th position, so he has room to move up from his current 12th.

Well done!

Oh, Jonathan!

That fall early on really messed things up. Took a long time for the music to reach the point he wanted to re-join at, and then quite a few more moves went wrong during the rest of the routine.

That said, there were one or two things that looked really good.

It'll be a low score, and he won't be happy. But, hopefully the FS will go better.

AFAIK you shouldn't need any ticket (edit - read some posts of Alex D which said you can get tickets at the door...maybe you can PM him to confirm)
