2016 World Championships Ladies Free Skate

At GP circuit it is a little more difficult to do those "things", especially when the skater does a huge mistake like doubled a required element.

My prediction:
1. Gracie Gold
2. Ashley Wagner
3. Evgenia Medvedeva

So you're explaining the result at Skate America away by implying that it's harder to bribe people on the GP than at Worlds? Surely despite her "disastrous" doubled jump, the judges could have padded Gracie's GOE and PCS a little bit here and a little bit there to give her the 1.53 points she needed to beat Medvedeva - go look at the protocols, there's plenty of room. But maybe the better explanation is that the results weren't fixed there any more than they were for the US men last night.

As to your comment about the Medvedeva thread, I've never read it - but I don't see how what other people have said about her justifies your comments about Gracie.

It would be nice in a way if skating worked like the Oscars. How else do you explain Al Pacino winning Best Actor for "Scent of a Woman"???????????

Because he should have won decades ago, for any number of films. He's lucky he didn't get a special achievement Oscar for his body of work, or worse, a posthumous one. Oscars are famous for ignoring people and playing catch-up. They have gotten better the past few years.

Well, Medvedeva and Gold's reading sounds interesting for sure! It'll be interesting to see how many of these are true.

This thread is already so long I felt sure I'd misjudged the time and it had already started

Really? I thought Atlanta was pretty dire. Not USA's proudest moment.

I think no one has yet touched the Sydney Olympics, at least in my lifetime.

I loved all the Olympics, but if we're going to rate them then I'd say the ones with an actual death toll go straight to the top (bottom?) of the list. :( As half baked as the accommodations in Sochi allegedly were, at least no one died

Is CBC using a thumbnail of Kaetlyn Osmond for their live stream?

Yeah!

You must be using CBC too. The quality is great and all but it was really behind during the men's event. Does this usually happen often for the CBC stream?

Speaking of live streams...can someone please post those that work when available? Looks like Eurosport won't be covering it, so it is Russia to the rescue! Thank you Russia!

Hopefully So Youn can pull up a couple of spots... Or Korea will go down to one spot right?

Already 14 pages which I do realize right now..high expectation guaranteed!

It is possible. They need 28 to get 2 spots, but the lowest (regardless of actual placing) one can get is 16. So basically, they have to pull up a combined 10 spots. It's doable but it is worrying.

with worlds in the US it looks like they could have invited Peggy and Dick back.

I'm so bummed that Eurosport isn't covering this! Love their commentary. TAT never gives me a moment's peace to enjoy a program.
