D/R PCS WAY too high...again! 36?!?! What the... Again, saw this live close to the ice and that is just very very unusual. StolKlim hosed, gifts for Scimeca/Knierim. At least those two judges were in the right mind to score Aliona/Bruno correctly in PCS, and V/T are rightfully leading in components.

I'm not a technical specialist and neither are you I'm assuming. Do you have any reason to be suspicious of the levels? Alexa and Chris have competed more than either St/Kl or V/T, so maybe they're better at getting the levels. Who knows.

Stating that T/M are better in everything is kind of a ridiculous generalization. It appears you're not even open to the possibility that Alexa and Chris might demonstrate more emotion and connection to the audience than T/M, at least in the opinion of other people. (I suspect you would feel differently if T/M were not Russian or if Sc/Kn were Russian.)

Oh please! Anyone can read the rules for levels and anyone with eyes can determine them.

I am upset. There is so much to say about this SP. some thoughts:

S/H: Perfect and the best. Deserved 80 points and lead.

D/R: strong after this mixed season. But I am sorry. I do not go with the high PCS. 35 would have been enough.

V/T: Goodness! They have been the masters of the SP but this was weak. bad throw. Only level 3 on twist (!) DS and steps. The Flow was not there. IMO they must hope S/H to make errors in the FS.

S/H: This twist was the highlight of the evening (but only level 3)! Luck and really good place after the SP and last group tomorrow. Some little mistakes. PCS are spread from 7.00 till 9.50. They can win a medal or even become 8th.

S/K: It is a shame. There are not 100% fit. Gaining a medal will be very hard. weak twist.



Take a eye on: Sc/Kn were technically enormous. 39,57 TES even with a fall!!!
T/M very strong today.

Special: 1. Robin and Aljona are back on the worlds stage with different settings. 2.Alexander smirnov takes part in the worlds. 3.Hao Zhang throws his partner into the cushion.

I'm heading to watch the men now, (yay!!!!), but I'm so excited to get home and watch the short! Sui and Han are my favorite pair team, and it's great to see their amazingly choreographed short program rewarded!

Even if Alexa and Chris had skated perfectly, I'd still have them behind the Chinese Pair. Here's my next question....Who choreographed the Chinese Teams program?? It was amazing and they performed the heck out it. The clear SP winner in my eyes............

I'm so sick of seeing people complain in EVERY THREAD for every discipline for this Worlds about a so-called conspiracy to inflate the scores of American skaters.

Is the positive emotion of a hometown audience influencing the judges? Sure, maybe there's a small PCS boost you get for skating in your own country because of the support of the audience, but it's certainly no worse than non-American skaters have received while skating in their own countries. Is it a conspiracy? Are there fake levels being given out to purposefully benefit American skaters? Of course not. (And before anyone calls me a hypocrite, nor do I think there was a Sochi conspiracy in 2014...again, natural hometown boost.)

I visit this site to discuss the performances and speculate on upcoming results, not to see endless accusations about conspiracies and corruption. If we're going to discuss judging as well, let's do it in a civilized way while explaining your specific reasons for disagreement, instead of making rude generalizations or stating your own opinion as an objective fact. While there are objective qualities to figure skating, other aspects are subjective, and people who disagree with you are not automatically wrong.

Sometimes she produced gems like this one, Mao's Nocturne, Michelle's Rach2 SP.

eta: But honestly though, I'm sure the program was all Lori. I'm sure she gave them a great foundation, and S/H (and their coaching team) added extra flairs and fine tune it to what it is today. I would love to watch a documentary of how a program was created, from start to finish.

So I watched the top seven. After scrolling through the comments, here is what I have to say:

Are you flipping kidding me when you complain about the 7th place score? Because they *fell*? I looove that program and it's fierce and Alexa's fierce and other than the magnificent Chinese, and God love her, Meaghan, who is also fierce, everyone else is close because they got the scores they deserve.

But NO ....it's a KONSPIRACY! They hate the Russians. Hate hate hate hate hate. That's the *only* thing that could possibly explain these evil, conspiratorial, no good influenced by Americans scores.

I'd say you were crazy but you're completely correct. I'll also add that it really depends on the Panel. It can actually hurt a US team to have a judge on the panel who has seen them skate better than they did at Worlds. Take Alexa and Chris, if I were on the panel, having seen them skate this program very well only a few weeks ago, I'd have a problem holding them up. They were OK today, just OK.

Overall, I don't have many complaints about the results. I do think the scoring has been for some reason way OTT from scoring earlier in the season. I have to ask why? ISU simply wants records to be broken?

Anyway, I thought Aliona and Bruno should be closer to V/T points-wise. Realistically, the podium may stay as it is with the outside shot that Stolbova/ Klimov or maybe Aliona/Bruno could move up if either skate the fp lights out, and any of the top three don't. John Coughlin had interesting things to say about Ksenia's strength and power as a skater. I'm really happy for Meagan and Eric bringing it.

I thought Chris and Alexa were strong on a number of elements, but they have got to drill, drill those sbs and become more confident and proficient in that area, since it's clear the judges want to reward them. I think Tarah and Danny are better than they showed obviously. I used to like Peng/Zhang, but I am tired right now of watching Peng going through growing up pains and making mistakes all over the place. Was there a reason why Yu/Jin were not allowed to attend Worlds?

Della Monica/Guarise have noticeably improved (they have definitely been working hard and it's paid off). Marchei/Hotarek are not having a particularly strong sophomore season. They are not yet really together as a pairs team, just as good technical skaters who have not fully meshed, plus they didn't make great music and choreo selections this season. James/Cipres had a very strong skate and that was nice to see. Kirsten and Michael seemed inspired as well. Nice job by Dylan and Luba.

You're talking in hypotheticals. We don't actually know how Alexa and Chris would've scored if clean. Maybe somewhat higher, but not on the level of top 2 Russians, D/R, or S/H.

Even with the fall, Sc/Kn continued to sell their program and did not lose energy or enthusiasm. T/M are just very...beige (plus were probably hurt by skating earlier. it's not fair but I've accepted it as how skating works.)

Look at Peng and Zhang. I thought they actually had a nice program with good skating skills and choreo, but they had a fall and got hosed in PCS. Totally destroyed in PCS. I actually think they deserve comparable PCS to Alexa and Chris.

Calm down andromache. Some posters didn't agree about a score no big deal. We have different opinions and it is a subjective sport.

Trankov is quite sceptical about their chances in the FS since, as he says, their strength is their SP and with their content it will be hard to fight in the Free
