Calm down andromache. Some posters didn't agree about a score no big deal. We have different opinions and it is a subjective sport.

It's not that we have different opinions, of course we do and we express them and that's why we're here.

It's the evil KONSPIRACY posts, and they are in every thread that I disliked and that I think Andromache was addressing. Now, from my point of view, I just get a good laugh from them, but they are booooring. So that's my opinion too.

Just rewatched P/Z... Damn that fall was scary :eeking: :hopelessness: Poor Peng, I feel she's been thrown around so much this season... Zhang is a very strong man.

Even scarier in person! I hope she's okay

Look at Peng and Zhang. I thought they actually had a nice program with good skating skills and choreo, but they had a fall and got hosed in PCS. Totally destroyed in PCS. I actually think they deserve comparable PCS to Alexa and Chris.

Eh, I think Peng/Zhang have not fully meshed together and are having some problems in that respect which possibly are attributable to the huge age difference and experience levels. They have speed and powerful elements and on a good day maybe they would have been ahead of even Tarasova/ Morosov.

In terms of Chris and Alexa, C/A are a more striking pair physically than Peng/Zhang, and also Chris/Alexa have some strong pairs elements. Yes Chris/Alexa do need to further fine-tune presentation and skating skills. Chris/Alexa's quad twist is their calling card which has given them stature with the judges plus they are favored by U.S. fed as top U.S. pair to be rewarded.

It appears that Zhang is a favorite of Chinese fed and they want him to succeed with Peng, even over allowing Yu/Jin to gain more experience and program development. Speed, choreo and skating skills can only take a team who are still growing so far especially with that spectacular crash and burn on a fall like that which led to them being out of sync on their jumping pass. If that huge disruption in execution of elements had happened to the second U.S. pair (Tarah and Danny), they would have been knocked down so far, they wouldn't have made the final.

I am in the middle of home buying and job interviewing process, hence stayed away from FS scene, but still kept checking on GS from time to time.:) You would not know I had heart attack every time I signed in, there were all sorts of bad news; injuries, withdrawals, etc etc...

I have not seen the most of competitions. But, Sui/Han's lead in SP really made my day. So happy for them. And I am also happy all dear Russian pair teams are here (except Yuko and Sasha:sad21:). Great job Canadians, especially Luba and Dylan:love:

Ah, politics.

I'd say you were crazy but you're completely correct. I'll also add that it really depends on the Panel. It can actually hurt a US team to have a judge on the panel who has seen them skate better than they did at Worlds. Take Alexa and Chris, if I were on the panel, having seen them skate this program very well only a few weeks ago, I'd have a problem holding them up. They were OK today, just OK.

Sorry, they were NOT okay. Okay is when you have a minor error.

They had a full on FALL, and got a personal best SP score.

That is a problem. :disapp:

Me too. Falls are much scarier in person. I haven't seen one from up close in a while but, Jennifer Robinson of Canada fell right in front of me in 2001 and it was scary indeed. Ice looks so pretty on TV but, we all know it's cold, hard a rock, and slippery as a snake.

You're right, that is a problem. In their defense, you could tell they didn't think they deserved a PB score for that performance. This is why the judging panels are under constant scrutiny. US champs or not, you don't let skaters believe that skating badly should be rewarded. EVER!!!

I gotta agree that my instinct is that S/K (USA) were overscored. They should be at least 2-3 points back from T/M, not practically tied, because T/M actually skated really solidly overall here. I actually think, bland as that program from T/M is, they were possibly slightly undermarked here.

But overall, great event that was judged pretty fairly! Though I'm :sad21: :sad21: :sad21: that Yu/Jin weren't given the opportunity to show what they had here today. Not to be too harsh, but what does the Chinese federation see in the Wangs anyway?

I think they should add something like under-rotate/down-grade to throw twist. S/K's 3Tw is only 2.5 rotations when he catches her and it is a definite down-grade if skaters rotate like this in jumps/throw jumps.

Someone asked how Sui/Han developed their chemistry, translator talks for a while, Sui says something short, translator: Uhh, she just told me they have no chemistry.

Maxim is super impressed with Sui/Han, complements D/R's technique. Says competition is more interesting since they came back because the field is so deep. Less concerned about medals now because they have all the ones they want. Also looking to start a family after 2018, maybe

Reporter clarifies to Sui/Han he wasn't talking about romantic chemistry , repeats question. Maxim warns Sui "careful, sometimes after press conference families happen" :laugh2:

Is there video or audio of the press conference?

Congratulations to Sui & Han, leading after SP!!

It is about time. Finally, all their skills are being recognised and awarded.

To me, their PCs should have been the highest as well - the well choreographed step sequences, Sui sassing it out, the turning of the heads, the flick kicks - just out of this world!! V/T shouldn't have highest PC (they weren't at their best today, that PC mark is a gift). Also Sui/Han's PCs should be a couple of points ahead of D/R too (D/R - besides their SBS luzts, the rest of the program is just meh, they are not even in sync in the step sequence, just pointless movements to fill up time, the music and choreography has no connection).

My Sassy Queen Sui and her Shinning Knight Han - well done!! Rock it in the LP!

I haven't seen them yet but, I thought he fell on footwork. Is that not the case? I mean, good grief they're in 7th. How inflated can their score be?

Just a personal opinion, I think it is about time that the Chinese Skating Federation pair Cheng Peng up with someone else. The age gap between Cheng and Hao is becoming more and more glaring to me. There are times in the routine when they are performing that I simply cringe. I don't feel that way when I watch Yu/Jin or Wang/Wang, that is because they are close in age and they match each other really well as pairs but Peng/Zhang just cringes me. Peng would look really nice if she is paired with someone her age.

I read in an article somewhere where Hao Zhang said he wants to continue skating to the next 2 Olympics, my immediate reaction was, please..........have some dignity, just retire and coach or something, you have much to give in terms of teaching pairs skating........let the young ones do it.

Congratulations to Sui/Han!!! That was amazing! I feel that their PCS should be much higher than D/R's. D/R had passion and enthusiasm but the skate feels forced patched, not as organic and seamless well phrased as Sui/Han's. I' happy for S/H finally developed to such outstanding level and get acknowledged. Very good competition in general and the ranking seems fair. Just wonder why S/H didn't get level 4 while quite a few others got it, thought S/H's twist had more features and much better.

Glad to see S/M came out strong. She looks better than ever, so don't blame her any more for what she did to Robin. She definitely still has some mileage in her , so go for it!

Good luck everybody in the FS!
