2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

I guess all Russian junior ladies will thank God and celebrate Stasya's turning senior for several days (Eteri will give day-offs to her junior students).

Watch in next season: Konstantinova defeating Med and Zagi at RuNats with 10 PCS points to spare.

I suspect that whoever wins the OGM will stop competive skating and go to making money. I believe this more so if the winner is Medvedeva because really what more does she have to prove and why stick around for younger skaters to possibly beat you.

I think Med will stay even if she wins OGM. If not she'll become another Kostner (squashing youngsters at the age of 30 with 9s and 10s in 2nd mark)

I really can't wait for her to move to seniors, have poor skates, low scores and become a middling mediocre skater who gets challenger appearances here and there. Enough ruining actually talented ladies' opportunities already. Even last season was one too many.

Okay, that’s enough. Now you’re going way too far. I know that we’re all upset about how Konstantinova’s been treated, but wishing for misfortune in her future is just directly attacking her harshly. There’s no need to say things like this, so please stop.

2019: Konstantinova becomes the world champion with 90 PCS.

not sure if 90 will be enough for her to win

I can't believe that at the time when we're witnessing one of the strongest crop of juniors ever, our fed pushes the most perspectiveless one of them :disapp:

Well, she took opportunity from someone else so she should at least deliver. Last year she was gifted at the junior nationals while Gubanova was robbed, and then when Konstantinova was sent to junior worlds, she didn’t deliver. Many fans kept wondering whether it was worth it for the federation. Gubanova would have done much better.

I was not hoping for misfortune. In fact, I was not "hoping" for anything here. "Poor skates" - She already has them. Every competition to be precise. "Low scores" - She already gets them internationally. "Middling mediocre skater" - She already is one internationally. What I want is simply that she's out of the way of the juniors. In seniors she can get scored how she will. Sorry if you saw it as me wanting misfortune on her - I guess I shouldn't have presented it in that manner. I'm not hoping that she skates more badly than she has until now - In my opinion the status quo needs to merely be maintained for my post to be accurate(with the only alteration being that she's in seniors).

But you're right, sorry. I removed that. It's too harsh. I get too emotionally invested sometimes.

Gubanova wasn't robbed! She did poorly last year at junior nationals.

I really really wish people would stop this nonsense about Konstantinova. I've seen her live - she's an amazingly powerful and beautiful skater with huge presence in the arena. The amount of hate she's getting from some posters here is insane.

This is what I cannot understand. How can someone be more excited about juniors than seniors. Ok, if you are a 15 year old girl, I understand it.

I wouldn’t say she did poorly last year..didn’t she just fall on her 3-3 and score a ~62. She stormed back and had one of her best FS of the season.

Competing at JWC gets Stasya very little. Failing to medal would actually be bad for her next season. They should send Gubanova to WJC and Konstantinova to WC. Whoever wins the Olympics isn't going to go to WC.

In this particular season, it's not that hard to be more excited about juniors than seniors.

2016-17 (average 184.61)
2017-18 (average 198.69)

Because it's a dawn of figure skating. With Rhythmic Gymnastic the same. People may praise for grown ladies for their 'maturity' and 'femininity', but still they're lack of freshness, uniqueness, purity and innocence of young talented skaters. That's quite sensational. Much better than seniors and much more exciting, if they are the real and pure talents, of course. Like this 8 yo kid.

It remembers me the hatred of some Kim YuNa fans against Adelina Sotnikova in 2014.

I don’t think people throw hatred on Konstantinova. Pointing out that she is frequently overscored doesn’t mean we hate her! No need to make it personal. I have no reason to hate her because I don’t know her as a person, but posters do have right to have an opinion on someone being underscored or overscored. I am sorry that someone here doesn’t like it, but doesn’t the number of posters who thinks Konstantinova was overscored tells you something? They all can’t be mistaken...

Oh come on, nobody is sending Stasya death threats or extending insults to her family member on social media. I get Stasya is catching a lot of flack, but that is simply because people are that irritated by her scores. And that doesn't mean everyone thinks she sucks - I like her well enough and I know she has good qualities. But so do the others. And if they're by comparison not rewarded enough, it has a big negative impact on their chances to proof themselves further. It simply really is a big matter.
(And tbh, I feel more sorry then anything else for Stasya too. Putting a mark on her back with scores like that... is really not doing her any favors either).

Okay, now pay attention. This 6-year-old girl will be a big deal. I have no idea how she just did that. But that content's at least 2 years above her age. And that's already in terms of top Russian juniors, who are insanely good.

And then the other things, like does she not have the best smile ever? And the expressiveness? So radiant!

The craziest thing is, the doubles really aren't close and have finished rotating well before landing. Only the final 2T was close, but even that she managed to somehow even perform(No idea how).

If not for the random falls, that's 40+ points which is a crazy score!

Yes, this would be probably the best.

Ah, I remember this cutie beauty! Really wonderful kid, jumping 2-2 being only 6 yo, this is truly incredible.
