Does Nathan play the piano too??

Yes, he does. In a recent interview, he said the piano was his main instrument until he moved (to Colorado? either for rehabilitation after his injury, or perhaps it was earlier ... I can't recall). Anyway, he said, "I couldn't take my piano with me," so he started doing more with guitar.

I could be reading too much into this, but I assume that, like me, he prefers a real piano over a keyboard, which is more portable. So, one more thing I love about Nathan.:luv17: ... even if I'm projecting.:)

Do you think they could be so calculating?, anyway the rumour says that they already had the program (la la land) and changed it, then they changed the second program again, apparently they have had 3 programs so far. Unless they themselves have created that rumor :p.

IIRC, C/B "announced" their use of it quite early, implying a "staking their claim" type move. Assuming it is true that they their program had to be switched, then this probably disappoints some others skaters who might have chosen it.

I honestly don't think it's in either Evan or Madison to be calculating. From what I've observed of them. I think it's much more likely that something changed their minds related to the music or the program itself. But they might have announced early, in part, to let their competitors know, as some other ice dancers might prefer to choose something else once they knew such a high-profile ID couple planned to use it.

I also think it hurt C/B in the past couple seasons to keep changing programs. Hopefully they learned something from it. And the rumour that chapis heard could be, in part, a piling of irony onto something smaller .... for instance, Maddie/Evan might have decided to choose something else early in the process, then people heard that and started facetiously assuming an "up-to-their-old-tricks" scenario.

It could also kind of be a reverse psychology-sort-of-thing, with many people assuming that "everyone else is going to want to use it", so in the end, everyone comes up with the same argument not to risk inviting comparisons, and nobody ends up using it. LOL.

I interpreted this part of Celine's post as a more general observation. Not that Madison and Evan were trying reverse psychology. But that many, or at least some, skaters, across the disciplines, ladies, men, pairs, dance ... assumed LLL would be over-used this season and for that reason avoided it. So it became more of an unintended reverse psychology thing.

This is only my interpretation, and it could be wrong. Poster Celine may weigh in. :)

Assuming that C/B dropped LLL, then I refuse to believe it was anything other than C/B genuinely and enthusiastically wanting to tackle on LLL but through the process realized it wasn't working out for them. They don't seem like people who would play games, and I like to think they're smart enough to know those games are ineffective and a waste of their time and resources. I heard Madison Chock is one of the nicest people one can meet in this sport, and nothing has shown me that that isn't the case. It is clear C/B have friends in ice dance and the skating world at large and I doubt that's because they're scheming people.

The last I heard of their LLL FD, they were still touring with SOI and were going to head to Colorado to work with Dean and hadn't settled on final music cuts. So it may have been ditched fairly early in the process.

Sylvia on FSU is reporting that she was told that Max practiced his SP to "Bring Him Home/One Day More" at the Philly International.

Which I will hopefully be able to confirm with my own ears tomorrow.;) Usually, I would go, Les Miz, oh no:sad21:, but Grant did such a bang up job a few years ago, I shall reserve judgment. And hope that I don't think too much about Grant.

ice coverage also identified the music as Bring Him Home in the Max interview thread. And I'm busy buying more boxes of tissues because I'm going to spend basically the whole season crying every time Max does it.

thank you VietglrTerifa, 100% agree on your post.

Although I am not an uber/raving fan of Madison and Evan, probably the last thing I'd accuse them for is 'scheming' in terms of programs/music announcements - they are too professional and too wise for that, simple as it is. While I don't have to be an enthusiast/a fan of their programs alone, they usually strike me as a team fully devoted to the stuff they're presenting, full with professional attire and approach towards music and choreography, especially from Madison's side. It's all up to people's reception, but I'd never pegged them for being calculative, 'scheming' team.

And thinking myself that they would like to feel 100% comfortable, sure and dedicated to their FD - Olympic season et all - it's totally understandable to scrap 'La la land' idea the earlier the better if it was not working out well. If that's the case - I have no doubts that they were very eager and excited over the LLL FD idea, announcing it that early and taking some work on it already. But if the idea was not matching/not successful in action, then I can only applaud their maturity, professionalism and strive to have the material they're fully convinced on, not binding themselves into that early LLL FD announcement.

Fan or no fan - looking forward what they'll come up with, in my opinion they always come up with some vivid performances, never leaving you indifferent which is a great thing for me:)

FP: "Historia de un Amor", choreographed by Shae-Lynn Bourne

Maria Sotskova
SP: Waltz from "Swan Lake", choreographed by Peter Tchernyshev

OH YASSS:love:, since that Jennifer Lopez SP few seasons ago I wished that Elena would do a Latin-themed program again and there she is! She has all goods to pull it off amazingly, most of the sass, attitude and sensuality. And please done again a red, fiery dress!!!

Edited to include Maria's FP.

I think Waltz is a good choice for Maria but I am so tired of Clair de Lune - beaten to DEATH!!! Besides IMHO Maria would benefit from more 'lively' music for a change  but oh well...

SO happy that Elena isn't using the same person who choreographed her last two long programs. I'm curious about this new Latin program!! Never heard of it; glad it's not a warhorse. Can someone post a link of the song, please?

Sounds like Elena and Maria both have programs that will suit them very well. Elena and Shae-Lynne sounds like a match made in heaven, and Maria's music choices are perfect for her soft style. I know everyone thinks Maria is boring and these are just more boring choices from her - but seriously, IMO, no one else in the field has the ability to skate to these pieces like Maria does, and it's good that she is playing to her strengths.

Is kind of a warhorse in latin rhythm in ice dance which happens to be precisely this olympic season, so I doubt that Elena will be the only one skating with that music.

Uh you both realize that this piece has been widely used in figure skating overall, right? Ice dance (and I'm sure we'll hear it plenty in this coming seasons SD's) and many singles and pairs have used it as well.
For example: Ryan Bradley used it for his LP in 2009: https://youtu.be/BhZWCsbQ1Ww
And 2007(when he won silver at Nationals): https://youtu.be/91QKv8WO31Y

**It's the second piece used in the program mix of Latin rhythms.
