I am more excited for their FD.I'm expecting great things from their short program for sure. The Shibs always do their homework and I expect thematically they'll be the most "on-point" top team.

Nope, you're not the only one! The LP was fine, but that SP has so much attitude. I'm delighted he's bringing it back, may it serve him well. :thumbsup:I also know I'm the only person on the planet who liked his SP last year better than the Broken Bird LP, but I did, so happy on two levels.

I present to you The Warhorse List for the 2017-2018 Season featuring an awful amount of Moulin Rouge and La La Land.
Feel free to correct it if you see any mistakes.
That's a very helpful chart! thanks. I've been thinking, though. There's not really any resemblance between "Roxanne" and "Your Song." So I don't really see it as a repetition in the same sense as some repetitions are. Of course, I feel the same way about, for instance, "All I Ask of You" and "Music of the Night." They're both POTO, of course, but they're not the same piece.
So when I think about the variety in Moulin Rouge music, I don't see it as being nearly as bad as it seems. YMMV. GS'ers are having the vapors over it, though, it's true.
but I completely agree about MR music; if it weren't for figure skating, I would have no idea that Your Song and Tango de Roxanne were from the same movie, which I have never seen. And the fact that everyone uses some sad cover from MR of Your Song instead of Elton John:disapp:
I thought skylark made a good point, and it made me curious as to what Moulin Rouge songs those skaters are skating to.

Thx for the breakdown, @SnowWhite. :hap85:
But wow, David Bowie covered "Nature Boy" for the MR movie? I only saw Vincent's program once, I had no idea that was what it was.
The one and only Nat King Cole with *the* version of Nature Boy
Why can't skaters use the original?![]()
Good move! (Not that I heard Karaoke Adam, but I just couldn't....) I also know I'm the only person on the planet who liked his SP last year better than the Broken Bird LP, but I did, so happy on two levels.

I think Tango de Roxanne is probably a warhorse on its own![]()

Would you suggest a separation between Tango de Roxanne and other themes from Moulin Rouge?
. And I believe at least one skater who is not a dance team.I like the list, but I completely agree about MR music; if it weren't for figure skating, I would have no idea that Your Song and Tango de Roxanne were from the same movie, which I have never seen. : An intriguiing concept of the movie is that it takes place in 19th century Paris, but the characters are singing all these songs from the 20th century.I thought skylark made a good point, and it made me curious as to what Moulin Rouge songs those skaters are skating to.
that makes things very clear. And it confirms my instinct that there's not actually nearly as much repetition as people around here are carrying on about!
Would you suggest a separation between Tango de Roxanne and other themes from Moulin Rouge? The list is just a fun way of seeing how many people are using music from the same source, regardless of which song it is (though, to be fair, aside from a few, there is a lot of repetition on the music used). Same thing for POTO and Les Miserables or La La Land.
I think your list is accurate as it is (there's plenty of overlap and it is all from Moulin Rouge and La La Land regardless). FYI, I believe there are at least 5 Cabarets. Three senior dance teams: Kuzmichova & Sinicyn, Galyeta & Brown, Mysliveckova & Csolley. Plus at least one junior dance team using it for the Latin FD. And I believe at least one skater who is not a dance team.
Sinitsina & Katsalapov are also using Rach 2 in their FD.

Not necessarily. I thought your list was great. It confirmed what I'd been thinking. I do kind of agree with el henry that Tango de Roxanne almost qualifies as a warhorse on its own.
And I can see why the skaters use the global name, i.e. Moulin Rouge, La La Land, or Les Miserables, rather than the individual song titles. For one thing, particularly if they're skating to a medley, it gives more unity to the musical selection.
