2017-2018 Programs by Discipline

Surprised to see her change the program. I'll be interested to hear what reasons she gives, if any. It's cool that it's a bit of a different program than what she's done the past couple of seasons.

Here's Gabby's FP from Finlandia Trophy.

Cannot express my disappointment in the piano version of the music. I was so excited to hear she was skating to Gladiator and she picked that version?! The strong, original one would have suited her so much better.

It is not so bad, but yes, it takes away the impact from the song, if she wanted piano, she would have chosen Chopin. I do not love the costume either.

Roman Sadovsky CAN
SP: The Vampire Masquerade (Waltz) by Peter Gundry; choreo by C. Lane, J. Razguljaevs (SP)
FS: Sword Art Online soundtrack by Yuki Kajiura; choreo by C. Lane, D. Wilson (FS)

I think this is an error because Sadovsky's ISU bio clearly says that David Wilson is the sole choreographer for his FS: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00014082.htm

Marin debuted her new SP, The Giving, at Carnival on Ice which was just aired, it was such a beautiful program with gorgeous choreography, the steps sequence is spectacular. I just watched on youtube few minutes ago but it was already take down now...hope there will be a re-upload soon

Maybe this will stay up? Marin Honda's new SP @ Carnival on Ice: https://youtu.be/B6KgoP4LqXA
It is boring... of course people love her and soft lyrical music for princess style will always sell because it is too cliche. But it is still boring.

Kaethlyn Osmond SP still stands out among all these snore fest. Well I know she reuses her SP from last season, I mean that one, not the Summer Time.

Some skaters use lyrical over and over, even for 4 seasons in a row and they get applaud for it, and people justify them saying that it is their style, but then Marin who just became senior is asked to do something different and out of her comfort zone in her first year as senior and fighting for one of only two olympic spots :rolleye:

No, it doesn't.

If it did, it would read this way:
Choreographer: C. Lane, J. Razguljaevs (SP); D. Wilson (FS)

or this way
Choreographer: C. Lane (SP), J. Razguljaevs (SP), D. Wilson (FS)

Instead of this way:
Choreographer: C. Lane, J. Razguljaevs (SP), D. Wilson (FS)

which implies Carol Lane collaborated on both programs.

However, considering that punctuation rules are not the forte of the ISU, it could be read either way.

This looks great. Finally!! Welcome to the seniors Marin.

Medvedeva and Alina should study this. How to emote, interpret and truly feel the music and integrate choreographic movements naturally and effortlessly, not doing transitions for transitions sake just to get it out of the way from A - B. And most importantly, how to pick quiet moments not just focussed on looking busy for busy's sake that has become a cliche with Eteri's girls along with all the Rippons, Tanos and backloading.

Clearly the most graceful and eloquent skater of her generation: Marin Honda.

I am so so torn for team Japan: Wakaba, Marin, Mai and so many others, Rika has a 3A too right? Shudders... It is really great to see they are developing into different types of skaters, each bringing something different. Not formulaic at all.

I just watched Papadakis/Cizeron's SD and oh mon dieu...its not good...Shape of you? No my god...i dont care what other ppl say that its a mix of modern songs and ballroom rhumba dance...its not

The FD are exquisite as usual. You know i always get an impression from their Free Dances, that is it is like a scroll painting. Like a Chinese scroll painting where it illustrates many views and scenes in one painting yet it is so well connected, from the beginning to the end, it is complete in one, whole part.

Why so many repeating programs?
Chaplin 2.0,

Javi´s earlier Chaplin was a freeskate program, the new Chaplin is a short program with different choreography and music. There is a total difference between those programs.

Alisa AGAFONOVA / Alper UCAR TUR
SD: Samba: Cuba by DJ Rebel ft. Gibson Brothers, Rhumba: How Deep Is Your Love by Sophia Guem (DJ Maksy Remix), Samba: Cuba by Robert Abigali, DJ Rebel ft. Gibson Brothers; choreo by Pasquale Camerlengo
FD: Marco Polo by Loreena McKennit, Cleopatra by Maxime Rodriguez, Iron by Woodkid; choreo by Pasquale Camerlengo

Some skaters have updated bios

Anastasia Galustyan is not doing Anna Karenina for her FS:

Anastasia GALUSTYAN
SP: "I Dreamed a Dream," performed by Susan Boyle (2016-17 program); choreo by Mikhail Zobnin
FS: Nos souvenirs (Memories) from "Cats" by Andrew Lloyd Webber performed by Mireille Mathieu; choreo by Mikhail Zobnin

and a good thing, since Evgenia is and both are scheduled to skate at COR.

and Mariah is not reprising her Chicago SP. And Rohene is her only listed choreographer.

Mariah BELL
SP: Stand By Me performed by Florence and the Machine; choreo by Rohene Ward
FS: West Side Story soundtrack by the Original Broadway Cast; choreo by Rohene Ward

We did not have Dmitri Aliev's FS yet:

Dmitri ALIEV
SP: "Masquerade Waltz" by Aram Khachaturian; choreo by Olga Glinka, Valentin Molotov, Alexander Rachinski
FS: To Build A Home by Cinematic Orchestra; choreo by Olga Glinka, Valentin Molotov, Alexander Rachinski
