2017-2018 Programs by Discipline

Sean Rabbitt has announced that he is changing his SP.

He will be replacing “Tequila” with a new LP (ETA: SP of course) “Somewhere in Time”, choreo by Sean. Announced on his IG, but I do not have the skills to link while on my iPad.

Luckily I saw Tequila live:agree: and I will miss it:sad21: But props to Sean for doing what feels right to him!

Oh no! Say it isn't so! So disappointed. Tequila was great fun! :party2: :dance3: Oh well, Denney and Frasier had a wonderful "Somewhere in Time" program last year, and I have to believe Sean's program will be equally wonderful.

We have not info on most of the Senior Pairs that recently competed at Cup of Nice.

Karen Chen is changing FS. Her post suggests the new one (Slow Dancing in the Big City) is choreographed by herself.

Is this one?

Rather cinematic ... Carmen may be in a few years. Then again, I don't think anyone should do Carmen until age 20+
It is quite brave of her to do this, lead by example (especially the burden of doing the choreography herself, crazy pressure. If it still don't work, she will have to blame herself. Hope she get good guidance/2nd opinon somehow). Refreshing and really outstanding to admit something not working when you consider there are other people still insisting on doing repeats (ahem Ashely, dear girl!!)

Xiaoyu YU / Hao ZHANG

FS: Star Wars medley; Jyn Erso & Hope Suite, Star Wars: Princess Leia, and Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

It will be Darth Vader and Princess Leia! Father and daughter, indeed ....;)

Maybe Ashley is doing the exact same thing. :yes2:

And I'm a firm believer in every skater and her team being open to changing to the vehicle that will help them have confidence, nail their technique, and create the emotional power and resonance that will give them the performance they're looking for. Ashley has pretty much stated those are her reasons.

I think this may do the trick for Karen. She has extra conviction with the programs she choreographs. Also, some skaters do well with an abrupt change in program that seems risky. (I'm thinking of Gracie's mid-season switch to Grieg SP in 2013-14.)

ETA: here's the article where Ashley talked about her reasons: http://olympics.nbcsports.com/2017/09/20/ashley-wagner-moulin-rouge-la-la-land-free-skate/

Lori must have had a Star Wars marathon, judging from her programs for the Chinese fed (and also probably got the idea of Star Wars + Planets mash up from Satoko's last year FS to use for Boyang's new FS).
Well, I advocated for the use of Star Wars for so much time that I won't complain (even though I would love someone to skate to Imperial March theme for a SP).

Nice package, it may benefit from some contour silhouette lines around the rib cage area of her upper body gold costume maybe? Move the waist/hip line an inch higher, to emphasis on her lines, shape and carriage. Nitpicking perhaps, but as it is, the gold seems to have diluted by the nude, and makes her appear top heavy in parts, when with the right lines in place it can really complement her upper body movements more.

I love how the skirt looks like fire when she moves. I'm sure that was the intention.

But I agree with the rest... Sam Donovan is going to have a field day with his reviews. Last year he was literally offering to make her a new FP dress if she burns the existing one.

Ashley makes the team by finishing third at nationals. Has a decent but solid short. Then medals with a stellar long.

Here’s the silly way my mind works....

Grant Hochstein (SP) and Romain Ponsart (LP) are skating to the Moulin Rouge cover of “Your Song”

Both have serious girlfriends (Romain) /fiancée (Grant) who are elite American ladies’ skaters.

Coincidence?:scratch2::scratch3::cool: You decide:laugh:
