I’m curious. For those who disapproved of Kevin’s earlier costume (when he was dressed exactly like the character in Whiplash he’s supposed to be portraying) and think this new program & costume is not acceptable, either…

Is it because:

1) you’ve never even heard of the film Whiplash, i.e. you’re not the least bit familiar with the source material (this new program music is from Whiplash too, right?)

2) your position is that no matter how the character (e.g. nerdy jazz student) is dressed in the source material, a skating costume should always look costume-y (i.e. fancy/theatrical enough)

3) you simply don’t like Kevin no matter what he’s wearing, and if he were wearing something more traditionally costume-y you’d be complaining anyway (e.g. ”oh kevin, *** is this costume, nothing like the film, ever seen a jazz nerd wear something like that, side-eyeing so hard!”)

4) other reason

I like Kevin a lot. But I choose number 2 as the reason. It can be simple, but this is plain. There's a difference to me. The costume is not well-tailored, so it doesn't make his movements look good. I wish him well, too bad about these mistakes!

Reynolds is better than this program. He has interpretative skills, so I don't know why he's stayed on the same plane for so many years. He's not going to like this score.
