2017 GP Internationaux de France Ladies SP

Poor Alina. I hope this program comes together for her eventually. Daniil didn't seem to let her feel down about the fall too much at CoC, but Eteri? Yikes :slink:

But go Laurine!! :cheer: I was disappointed to find out that she'd left Katia Gentelet to train with Kori Ade. She seemed to be really good for her, and now she seems to be lacking the momentum she had last season, but hopefully she can put together two strong programs at home.

It's become worse, unfortunately. My favorite by hers is the SP in practice from before the season started. Since then I've sort of become confused about why exactly I liked the program back then...

I think it's hasty and rushed, definitely. I just don't feel a whole lot of connection to the music at all.

That's what bothers me the most is that the poor thing doesn't even have a second to make any connection with the music...Still, She's a lovely young lady and a very hard worker and I wish her all the best.

Eteri's not the coach you go to if you need to be comforted and coddled...that's not what she's about.

I think you go to her because she gets results and she gets them fast. Not everyone needs to be coddled. Some do, some don't but I think it's a misnomer to assume that just because one is young and female that you need your hand held. I used to ride even when I fell off it didn't really help to be hugged. It helped to be told to get the heck back on..now.

With Yuna and Alina going back to back, I don't understand why Alina got better components with that performance. Yes, Alina had more transitions by a lot but that was about it. I found that compared to Yuna, Alina's hunching and lack of flow were really obvious. Also she really seems just be going trough the movements. In terms of interpretation she is not too bad for 15-year old, but I found Yuna far superior.

Shh, the goal here is to push as many Russian skatersas possible to make the GPF. ;)

(I won't be surprised if Alina falls in the FS but gets outrageous PCS too).

The Yuna program is really empty though. And while she might have interpreted more, I don't think it was correct for the music. Neither of them deserved a whole lot here.

I agree, but speed and number of transitions- rather than quality- seems to be what gets points nowadays, so I can't really blame Eteri's team for going that route.

I hope the pendulum swings the other way soon

Laurine has such a straight back and creates beautiful postures/ but sometimes,I wish she were a little more supple with her upper body and neck.. it will be super impactful!!

Edit; congrat! She got her season best over 60!!

I just wish Laurine's long program music was as tasteful as her SP music. I love so softly love. Nana does a great version of this song.. and Frank.

Tracy compared Laurine to Caryn Kadavy. I see some Jason influence in there. I feel Laurine doesn't get enough credit for her speed and flow and very defined spin positions. Other than the combo, I felt it was very steady.

For some reason I thought Zagitova would really shine here after learning of Medvedeva's recent struggles... I guess maybe it had the opposite effect. :confused2:

Or, maybe one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. ;)
