2017 World Ladies FS

If only Satoko didn't have to withdraw due to injuries, this would have been more exciting!

It was her best chance to win that world medal, her super consistence would have put her on podium if she'd been here. I doubt next year is going to have that many meltdowns. I mean, it IS unlikely, right? Right???

Finally this season of ladies skating is over, the summation of it being exactly what I thought it would be - the skating is tacky, superficial, repetitive, and forgettable. There wasn't a single good long program in this competition. Lots of random movements going on, more and more of something happening, but ultimately all meaningless. No real development of worthwhile themes, no real artistry. This was exactly representative of a Trumpian era. Lots of big, empty, manic showboating, all punctuated by plenty of cringe-worthy moments.

Japan got absolutely robbed of their 3rd spot with Wakaba's SP marks and Mai's LP marks. Shameful.

i am so shocked Kaetlyn didn't bomb. Good for her!

I am no fan of any of the medalists tho.

Even just saying it feels so strange. Two Canadian medalists in ladies' skating. It's like a second miracle on ice.

Or she would have been out of top 10 since she would have skated injured. In the end, Japan's team is not that strong anymore. It will be in the next couple of years because they have a very strong bunch of juniors. But now, it is what it is - next season, the top two Japanese girls will have to fight for those two spots.

I don't think so. She feels pain when she does the 3T combo, so she should have just gone for 2Lo combo instead. There's no way in hell she could score less than 200 combined. That's how much faith I have in her. She's Satoko. She's not Anna. I would never predict bombing from her, even with injury.

I gotta say I'm very surprised that Osmond beat Daleman. I though Daleman was going to get silver after her clean skate and those 2 small errors from Osmond. I'm confused about that one.

I agree. Osmond has some wobbling gravy. Daleman was clean.

Pogo is due for a melt down. And she didn't disappoint.

Look at her record. 4th in W14, 13th in W15. 3rd in W16. 13th in W17.
Good thing is next year is her good year. I expect her to be in the hunt for an Olympic medal.

Applying this pattern, we have 4 - 13 - 3 - 13 - so the next is 2. If Pogo wins silver medal at the Olympics it's fine with me

Since Mai finished 5th, all what Wakaba had to do was to finish 8th... And she was just 3 points behind 8th Masha... :sad21:

Karen proved me wrong today. I was one of the ones who didn't think she should have been sent, but she was the highest finisher today. And not just that but 1 placement away from a podium finish. Yeah, I got egg on my face right now. I'll admit it.

Very happy to see Canadian skaters on the podium!!

Anna, I love your smile and am waiting for your return in the next season!!

ASHLEY:sad4: My heart is hurting I so wanted her to do better. That first missed combo really threw her off and she was never quiet in it after that. But talk about Karen coming in clutch!! Soo proud of her and the fact that we got three spots! Canadian women I can't even hate they brought it so hard. The less said about Evegenia and her simple miming the better..... Overall a pretty weak event for me, especially after last years worlds.

Very disappointing comp overall. At least USA/CAN/RUS have 3 spots going into the Olympics. The worst feared scenario for JPN came true. Hope next years biggest ladies events are a whole lot better than this.

Sidenote: The forum just set a new record as well. 3378 users online and counting.

Update: Final tally 3698. We'll crack the 4000 next year. ;)

Not sure why so many people think Daleman should be above Osmond. Osmond's program composition and artistry are leagues better than Daleman's. Moreover, Osmond racked up huge GOEs on most of her passes (that Lutz was gigantic!!!) while a lot of Daleman's later jumps and most of her non-jump elements maybe earned +1 at most.

That said, someone needs to hold a 3Lo camp for Osmond because she hasn't hit it once this year. Either that or pull a Kim Yuna and just not do it.

Further, she could replace a Salchow with a second Lutz. I know she has edge problems sometimes but the Lutz is so huge and usually has difficult entrance/exit that it may well end up being worth more than the salchow

we always believed in our girls!!!! it's been a couple years we see them on the rise!

I will post later as other duties call me and GS is so slow i actually turned it off during the last 12 skaters

But I had to say this : Congratulations to the medalists !!!!

AND WOW Kaetlyn and Gabby !!!! way to show how strong and beautiful you are !!!!!!

And of course, let's rejoice that Canada will get 3 spots next year.... it's been a blood bath at nationals for the last couple years and now our girls can aspire together !!!!!

Congratulations to you 4everchan and your god-daughters.
