2017 World Ladies FS

I bet Ashley was sweating it out watching Anna, Wakaba and Maria bomb and letting her off the hook for almost losing the 3rd spot. Hard to believe Carolina finished 6th with the way she skated.

Mai Mihara, with the second highest TES in the competition. It's so sad that Japan's nationals are going to be a bloodbath next season because someone will lose out on going to the Olympics out of Satoko, Mai, Marin and Wakaba.

Also, this forum is absolutely craptastically slow right now... it'll be even more impossible tomorrow for men's free.

OK, fantasy figure skating here.

Lets bring back school figures and see what happens.

Anyone want to try to score with opinions on who would do well at figures based on their current skating technique?

I'm thinking Ashley would be low and Evgenia also. Where are the edges anymore?

Japan got absolutely robbed of their 3rd spot with Wakaba's SP marks and Mai's LP marks. Shameful.

How is that shameful?

Mai got 5th, at most she could have closed the gap on Karen with 4th because her SP was too far behind the medalists.

Wakaba would need 9th placement. That would require about 4 points. She wasn't robbed 4 points in the SP.

And Karen quietly but assuredly showed her naysayers who's the boss :hap85:. Writing on message boards is much easier than sweating 30 hours a week.

Pinch me.
I'm not crying, you are.

I'M CRYING.
KAETLYN! GABBY! You go girls. Oh Canada indeed, what a week.

I don't think so. She feels pain when she does the 3T combo, so she should have just gone for 2Lo combo instead. There's no way in hell she could score less than 200 combined. That's how much faith I have in her. She's Satoko. She's not Anna. I would never predict bombing from her, even with injury.

We will never know, will we? I also appreciate Satoko's mental toughness and work ethic. And yes, she would have likely done well enough to keep 3 spots. But since she was injured I think the took the right decision. Who will challenge her next season from Japan to claim a spot from her? Let's say Mai Mihara. But it's two spots. So it's Mai and Satoko. Who else is there? Mao? With her reputation torn apart after this season and her chronic UR issues, I have doubt the federation would back her up. Marin? If we look at her record, she starts to skate well in the later half of the season. If she messes up the GP's, she won't be taken seriously at nationals (you have proof - she was very conservatively scored at nationals this season after mediocre JGP events). Sakamoto? She is inconsistent and does not have the PCS. Rika and Wakaba? I doubt it.

I also want to add that is why i hate slanted panel and disagree with it in principle.

You have a faulty junior
Maria get 64.79 in PCS,
an absolute disastrous Anna get 62.86
a mistake ridden Kostner still get 71.03.

Then you get these near clean as personal best performances receive these sort of PCS

Karen 64.33 (Lower than Maria)
Mariah 60.92
Mai 63.89
Dabin 58.73
Elizabet 58.15
Zijun 49.54 (How come her TES only beat Anna's disastrous TES by only 0.96 points???)

How can this competition not looking like rigged towards the Europeans in particularly the Russians?!

And if I'm not mistaken with the score that Karen put up she just opened the door for 3 US ladies to be sent to Pyeongchang (fact checkers have at it)........

Karen finished 4th and Ashley 7th: 4+7=11. Even before Pogo's meltdown, Karen's 5th with Ashley's 8th was good enough for 3 spots. Once Karen moved ahead of Mai Mihara in total points, that sealed 5th place for Karen and the 3 spots were saved. I didn't care what happened after that!!!

But Pogo's meltdown also moved Mariah into 12th which now guarantees her 2 GP spots next season.

After Anna's first mistake I was sure she's gonna continue falling after almost every jump. She's so vulnerable! Just get some psychologists for that girl!! :(

Tbh, I think she was...

Yah, just keep ROFL. Ice is slippery, hadn't you heard? It never fails to amaze me at how very many people around here assume they know what's gonna happen.

Well done, Karen and Ashley. So many people doubted you. Way to step up!
