Have we ever seen such movement on the ladies podium in an Olympic cycle like we have seen in the last 3 years? Only Med has repeated as a medalist while everyone else has been one and done so far. It seems like no one is consistent now to stay on the podium for more then one year. Usually heading into the Olympics the skaters are narrowed down to just a few for the podium but there are literally about a dozen ladies who can get on the podium in 2018.
2007-2010 World medalists
Yuna Kim (4 07/08/09/10 - 3rd/3rd/1st/2nd)
Mao Asada (3 07/08/10 - 2nd/1st/1st)
Miki Ando (2 07/09 -1st/3rd)
Joannie Rochette (1-09-2nd)
Carolina Kostner ( 1-08-2nd)
Laura Lepisto (1-10-3rd)
2011-2014 World medalists
Carolina Kostner (4- 11/12/13/14- 3rd/1st/2nd/3rd)
Yuna Kim (2 11/13 - 1st/2nd)
Mao Asada (1 13- 3rd; 14 -3rd)
Miki Ando (1 11 - 1st)
Alena Leonova (1 12-2nd)
Yulia Lipinitskaya (1-14-2nd)
Akiko Suzuki (1 12-3rd)
Compared to:
Evgenia Medvedeva (2 -16/17 -1st/1st)
Elizaveta Tuktmysheva (1 -15 - 1st)
Kaetlyn Osmond (1-17-2nd)
Ashley Wagner (1-16-2nd)
Satoko Miyahara (1-15-2nd)
Gabrielle Daleman (1-17-3rd)
Anna Pogrilaya (1-16-3rd)
Elena Radionova (1-15-3rd)
So yeah, with a few notable exceptions, there always been a lot of movement in the ladies.
3 spots for US

But it was only because I'd seen her live a week ago and knew she was ready to kick butt.
