2017 World Ladies SP

Well finally she breaks her PB from like 2013. Congrats Karen. keep it up in the FS!

I think she had a lot to prove as the U.S. Champ after 4CC.

First time seeing Karen Chen too --- that is quite an inspired SP (music, construction, as well as performance), well-done!

NO Underrotation! YESSSSS

ETA: the rotation on the 3T looked better than at nationals. Yes there was a hook, but she did touch down past the 1/4 mark from what I can see.

Wow, with that score the US ladies are in business... if she can repeat it in the LP we might keep our spots after all...

Very good score!! Presentation below Kostner, but I shouldn't complain at this point! This is a really worthy performance. Good luck at the FS!!

What a beautiful peacock on the ice:love:
But I'm gonna be honest, I want Amano, the supreme professional for the biggest stage of the year :scard7:

my heart is still racing from Kaetlyn's skate....i need a drink... but cannot in this really early morning lol... how are you holding up Osmond4gold?

Thanks bud...my fingers are no longer shaking. I am ecstatic for our Girl! Def. puts her in the contender field. Fingers crossed for Gabby also here. Top 6 for both would be awesome!!!

Karen Chen:

High 3Lz+3T, and she's bringing the speed through her spins like she did at Nationals. And a crackin' 3Lo with a fine spiral to boot. Good landing for the 2A. Fine, centered layback spin as well. 3T on the combo might be called <.

Chen definitely shook off the nerves tonight and delivered a fine performance. I don't think the judges are going to give her the PCS just due to reputation, though I think she deserves more for this performance. Still, a great setup for a top finish for the US in the free!

Karen is definitely a long program skater, so I'm optimistic that she'll put out a good skate.
