2017 World Ladies SP

Why bother arguing with this person? He's cuckoo lol

You know, I don't say anything really with the hope of convincing him but so that the lurkers here know we're not all in agreement with what he says. I don't want people to think my or others silence means we agree. I don't agree.

And Satoko and team made the right call. However, JSF should have used the Olympic spot as carrot to ask her to go. With how this is playing out, Satoko will not go unless she wins national.

Oh please. With the way Mai Mihara ended her program today, Satoko remains the most reliable skater to deliver under pressure.

Right on 🤘

I'm uncomfortable with the thought that Satoko should have been forced to go while injured, regardless of how she could have scored/what she can or can't do elements wise. It is very important if you are an injured athlete to take time to recover and get the treatment you need in order to avoid further more serious injury. I don't think Satoko should have had to risk her own health and long term career (not to say anything of her long term general health) just to get Japan 3 spots for the Olympics. OF COURSE everyone hopes they will get 3 spots, and sure, in some sense it would benefit Satoko too to have them, but not if her career is over because she aggravated an injury or she's still walking with a limp at age 50. If someone is injured they are injured. That's life. They shouldn't have to risk their health. They are more than just a tool to get maximum points, they are a PERSON.

You are right. No one should risk worse injuries by skating while injured.
Though there was one lady skater who kept her injury secret from her Federation and skated badly and later on her team was fined a large amount of money.

"Wink" if you know who that is.

I really thought Karen's combo looked clean during the zoom-in of her feet in slow-mo.....guess I'm the only one?

No you're not the only one :) It definitely looks clean to me and I am very fussy about rotations

I think there might be some confusion/disagreement over what the skating direction / starting point of her 3T was... and that might well affect one's judgement of whether she touched down before or after the 1/4 mark.

So, basically Wakaba's faults were : "we want to make sure Carolina is in the last two groups, so we're not going to put anybody above her until the last two groups" and "didn't skate in the last two groups"...

That sounds fair.

With that stare and pat on the leg, Lil Bet was close to grounding her mom without supper. :p

OH NO! After the last group which I think all of them will qualify, Zijun and Laurine will NOT qualify :cry::cry: This is just cruel

They're currently above 18th which means they're already qualified. 24 qualify. It's Shuran, Joshi, Helery, Amy, Emmi, and Isadora who are waiting to find out.

Mai is in trouble herself. She's not going unless she wins as well. Satoko is the most reliable pre-injury. Next year, 2 spots, it will be impossible. Marin will get one because they won't screw her like they do to Wakaba and Mai. The other spot is up for grab. Maybe kaori will get it.
