2017 Worlds Men's FS

Nathan got a pair of custom made boots last month that broke down quickly. They were holding on by a thread this week. Last week he tried to have them repaired, but he couldn't get his jumps consistent. It was rotten timing.

Really? I was wondering what he was doing straight after the 4Lz fall--as if he was testing if the blade or boot would hold. Ugh, boot problems suck.

Finally watched Yuzuru's LP. It was good and deservedly got all those points, but it personally didn't move me like Seimei. I could never get into any of his programs this season, especially his free. I wish he would have skated Seimei at last years WC like he did this one, and Seimei was the new WR program.

I love Hanyu but I do think Uno was robbed of the gold probably. Not today, his score today was totally fine but since his short program really deserved a 106-108 type score, not a 104. I am so happy for both though, Uno is such a little cutie, you could just picture wrapping him up in your arms and cradling him, like a little kitten.

I wonder if Fernandez felt the pressure of Hanyu's skate. He still had things in control given his lead, but suddenly he needed a skate close to his best to win, which wasnt expected before the night. And knowing even if his best might not win the LP phase takes some wind out of your sails.

There is one thing I seriously can't understand: How does it that this thread doesn't even have 100 pages?

Because it's the middle of the night in Asia and only 8:30 on a Saturday morning EST?
Or maybe it's just that it's not the ladies thread?

I like the Pairs thread. So civilized and generally polite.

At least these medals are less plastic and embarrassing than the GPF discs of doom

for the sizes of the world's medals, they'd wanna be solid gold, silver and bronze! oh yes, some competitions have been truly stingey with their medals awarded :drama:

Maybe if Americans were more awake, it might, lol. A large chunk of fans that usually post in here during events is still asleep.

(Yes, there's way more than American fans here, but there's still a lot of them!)

Missed the last group and just watched Yuzu's FP. It didn't reach Seimei but I'm speechless at his brilliance and mindset. German commentator said that there's no way Yuzu can beat Javier and even in the beginning of his program, the Eurosport guy said that a medal is within his potential. This is exactly what seperates Yuzu from regular people. He's made of champion. He's a treasure to the world. He's a tremendous inspiration to people from all walks of life *off to crying*.

Now I can finally go to sleep and not be waking up through the night with nerves. And I will smile because Jason was wonderful and Brendan did so well, and now I have one less thing to stress about at Nebelhorn this year. Goodnight! :bed:

don't ask them anything to do with history, they will be so off. Their analysis during the skates are good though

I like them best out of all commentators (the ones i understand of course). they're never too mean to skaters or talk over them but sometimes they say the darnest things!

*Sniff I hope dear Julian gets a spot at Nebelhorn.

It's interesting that neither European champion or Four Continents champion made it to the podium.

Hanyu was amazing of course but with no quads and other flawed jumps it's amazing to see how a skater can be as successful as Brown. Here you have a skater for whom jumps are irrelevant to success! It's so unique. Every era has some skater where conventional wisdom doesn't apply.

PCS : I don't have to agree or disagree with the PCS. I just want to check how the judges group/rank the skaters at this competition we all watched together. (I have only watched the last group. I will catch up asap.)

Congratulation to Shoma for his Silver. He now is among the veterans. You are advanced to the top group (artistry) now!

It is sad to see Denis in the bottoms of 80s. But, it is interesting to see the young skaters are 2 points apart in the 80s. They are the ones who have monstrous TES, but budding(?) artistry. (Jason is the opposite)

Deniss has the potential to jump up to the 80s next season if he keeps developing his artistry as he did this year, or if he wants to expedite, he can be equipped with couple of quads.

It's just after 8:30am on the east coast of the US, and who knows how many crazy west coast people are up at 5:30am on a Saturday.

*crazy east coast girl who technically hasn't gone to bed at all*:slink:

It's a shame and the worst kind of luck. It's happened to all the best skaters. I know it's not always really possible to have a back up pair but I wish it were. I think Karen Chen brought 3 pairs to Worlds per an article I read a few days ago! I'm sad for Nathan but very happy indeed that thanks to him and Jason they both skated well enough to secure 3 spots for the U.S. next year! Barring injury I think 2 of those spots should for sure go to them!

Poor Gravy. Not only have you admitted to being antifun now you are a dead banana. Or is that you after you were run over by the happiness bus?

I'm a dead banana run over by the happiness bus who now bleeds glitter.

Happy for my little twink Shoma winning silver and his papa winning gold. Their wins have consoled my Spanish concubine's loss that landed him in 4th place.

I put it down to the early hour in the US, starting at 3:50 a.m.:dbana: and over by 8! And that's east coast, don't even think about the west.

Well, it's just my taste. I'm not American, so it's not my anthem, I understand my opinion is different one. It's good that you like it, if it's you anthem!

Dat Czech anthem tho is a masterpiece. Def in my top 10; reminiscent of the Dutch anthem in ways.

Two things from the protocols: (1) I love me some Shoma but I think his GOE should be lower on some of those jumps and (2) Nathan's base value is ridiculous!!!

We'll be seeing lots of that next season when:

Yuzu 4Lz
Shoma 4S
Boyang 4Lo

Scary, the three medallist all have something hidden in their arsenal.
