2017 Worlds Men's SP

heart beating fast... I know Hanyu really want this, can he do it!!!

Good for Nathan and Boyang for that matter. Nathan has set himself up nicely. But here is the issue I have. The PCS. I know it is not up to me and the system is the system. Nathan is already over 43 pts!!!! IMHO Hanyu, Brown and Chan even if they don't skate clean probably should be a good 6 to 7 pts ahead pc wise but that won't happen. Can't happen. All it takes is one semi clean quad and even that difference is obliterated.

I know and share your impression. But I think though that he showed compelling interpretation & good skating skills in this performance, maybe he was 1-2 points overscored in PCS. This program was not empty or sloppy at all.

Shoma changed his costume? I liked his velvet purple pants and and flowery shirts. This one looks lighter, and more refined, I guess?

From what I've seen on this forum, and the 3 threads that have bashed him and his PCS, a lot of people here dislike Nathan. So you're in good company to be honest.

I say it's pretty much evenly divided. That's what happens when you start challenging for medals. Skaters like Fernandez, Hanyu, Chan etc get a lot of criticism because of the scores they may or may not deservedly get, which again if of no one's fault but the judges. I like Hanyu but some of the scores he gets, you can tell the judges know he is the Olympic champion and may reward him for his legacy rather than what was necessarily put out on the ice.

All anyone can talk about when it's Nathan versus Hanyu is skating skills, but skating skills are conveniently forgotten when compared Nathan versus Boyang :sarcasm:.

(Boyang's skating skills in the Spidey program are not good, the small choppy forward crossovers he does out of jumps are distracting. It's a fun program, but it's totally okay if judges prefer Nathan's balletic program. Especially since the judges probably prefer the traditional).

He got a few bonus points off reputation but it wasn't anything egregious. Nathan also has more transitions, which if iric is everyone's fav fallback when it comes to overscored skaters. And while Chen could do Boyang's SP (without being as cute tho), I can't imagine Boyang pulling off Chen's program.
