Actually there were several men, like Kevin Shum at MIT. And a few others, but few of the ISP men other than Nate.

Actually Alex Johnson graduated from the University of Minnesota, but I think if he was a student recently he would be allowed to go.

Tony Lu and probably Camden, I remembered reading that in his IG bio

If recent grads are allowed, Jordan Moeller graduated from UCCS in December and is 23.

I would love to see him in future comps, although I don't know if USFS would consider his results so far worth it:(

Who will be sent to JW now? I heard Alexei state he want to go to JW? If yes does that mean Alexei, Tomoki and Andrew will go? Sad to see if Camden really not going but his last 3 competition have been not so good.

Camden needs to find new coaching and GET AWAY FROM TOM Z!!

Can Vincent go to a jump specialist like Mishin in the summer just for a few weeks perhaps? Or even Boyang Jin's coach for a fresh perspective. Both his coaches are known for having students with under rotations before they became a team, and I am not sure whether two under rotation coaches = full rotation.

He has nice lines and good air position, and is only 18!. It would be a shame if he is dinged for ur again and again. It might be helpful if he gains a few pounds.

Vincent had a growth spurt and is bigger than he was last season. He looks more muscular and less boyish now - I’m not sure additional weight gain would help him with quads?

Would be great if he could go to a jump specialist - but don’t know how likely that would be, as Tom Z is his jump coach and otherwise has no shortage of coaches!

I definitely think he has too many coaches already.

Is Universiade under the ISU, because then we could send Camden (or some other college attendee) there to get a higher SB.

I believe that the additional muscle is usually considered beneficial to jumps. I seem to remember Doug Haw on TSL saying that men go thru a secondary puberty in their late teens which helps them get extra pop on their jumps. One example that springs to mind is that of Roman Sodovsky, who used to have a willowy physique similar to Vincent's but is now a much more power skater and jumper.

Would be great if he could go to a jump specialist - but don’t know how likely that would be, as Tom Z is his jump coach and otherwise has no shortage of coaches!
For all of Tom's flaws I do think he is a good jump doctor. But I think he tends to miss the forest for the trees by focusing more on flashy jumps than overall consistency.

Universiade gives you nothing but the pride of competing there. Only 4CC/JrW/W are left where skaters can achieve a SB score.

And WTT. I guess Nathan wont be in WTT because Yale?

I don't know that he has said, but others would certainly know more than I.

Yale ain't cheap, and WTT is a good payday:biggrin:

I believe he's announced for a show in Japan right after Worlds, so he likely won't go back a couple weeks later for WTT because of school. But he hasn't said anything about WTT that I've heard.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe his scholarship is full ride and then some. Plus, he's always getting free stuff from sponsorships and gifts from fans!

Of course, more money wouldn't hurt. :p

I thought after Tammy Gambill relocated to Colorado to form a coaching team with Tom, students of either of them get an additional coach?? But Tammy's Karen and Tom's Mirai are both known for under rotations. It's better to have one that counts.

I agree. I dont understand why he has all these coaches.

And with all of them, his jumps are still an issue.

Worlds are March 18-24
World Team Trophy is April 11-14
Nathan’s SOI dates are April 20, 25, 26, 27, 28 and then start up again May 11
Yale’s final exams are May 2-8
Don’t know about shows in Japan

So technically he could do WTT. Whether he will or not may depend on his classes and how good he is at studying on the road.

I couldn’t find the announcement for this year’s WTT, but the usual rule is that if you place top 10 at Worlds AND and are ranked as one of your Fed’s top two skaters in World Standing after Worlds, if you decline, you’re not able to participate in shows for some period. We don’t know the blackout dates yet, but right now, Nathan is ranked 2, Jason 5, and Vincent 12. Depending on how they do at 4CC and Worlds, I’d guess it’s possible for Vincent to pass Jason but doubtful either one could pass Nathan (just guesses on my part, I didn’t crunch any numbers).

Nathan's Japan SOI dates are Mar 29-31 so most likely he'll remain in Japan for the entire week following Worlds. Personally, I think he'll skip WTT.

Ahem, you could count the number of UR calls Max Aaron ever received in his Senior career on one hand, and I don't think Joshua Farris ever got any.

On that note, I would like to see Vincent get Josh to do his competition programs last year. While I liked Vincent's FS well enough, when he came out for the gala it was like watching a whole different skater - engaging, charismatic, delightful.

You could also count the number of quad flip and quad lutz attempts ever by Aaron/Farris on, well, zero hands. :sarcasm: I also don't recall Farris landing even the 4S in competition (although he landed a pretty one on Instagram!).

Wondering how either of those two would have fared attempting Vincent's layouts with the harder quads - guessing there might have been a few more URs added to their senior career.
