I don't think it makes anyone look bad. Daisuke T is a living legend for figure skating and in the FS there were lots of shining talents that have much potential. Sota and Shun both landed clean 4Ts. Shoma was incredible and fought bravely. Kazuki received low scores because he was robbed in PCS, otherwise he also landed a clean quad combo. Tatsui and Sena showed their guts and potential to be high scoring junior skaters next year as well. Japan is swimming in depth right now, don't know why you feel the need to be so salty?

They must have a grudge against the boy or something. Maybe the rest of Japan is pissed that Sendai (not a traditional figure skating stronghold) has produced all of Japan's three Olympic figure skating golds and is taking it out on youngsters from Sendai /conspiracy

Of course I want Yuzu to be safe and fully healthy but I can’t lie I’m sooo disappointed he won’t be at 4 continents. American audiences get so few chances to see him compete

True, but he's being sensible (okay, so we're not used to that from our hotheaded I-can-do-it-if-it-kills-me-and-gives-fans-ulcers young champion but it's good to see). This year, Worlds matters to him and to JSF too much to mess with.

Why are people here always crying out about Shun Sato's PCS? Have you watched the kid skate? He's still a far cry from graceful, he needs to improve his extensions and upper body carriage, his emphasis of gestures, flair, and just overall skating. His spins also need work. I commend him for being able to do the jumps, but even those had scratchy landings. I don't dislike him (I'm actually neutral about him in general), but there's a clear reason his PCS are low. He needs to work on other aspects of his skating. I want to see him do well, but please stop crying out "Unjust! JSF conspiracy theory!" just because he's from Sendai and has the Yuzuru connection.

Actually, since they're being fair, at least he'll know what to improve. I look forward to seeing him get better and rise up like Shimada, and also hope to see Yuma Kagiyama rise up in the ranks. Let's see which among the juniors will step up to the plate.

I don't get the association between Shun and Sendai neither, nor the conspiracy theory . Yes he may be training in Sendai before, but from this season he has relocated to Saitama. My understanding is that the relocation has to do with the relocation of his father's work.

So far it has been an interesting season for junior skaters on men's side from the East sections of Japan. And there's no doubt that the competitions will go on among skaters of this younger generation.

How nice of you to assume people didn't even watch him skate.

And duh, he's 14, of course he has a ton more to improve on his PCS side. No one's saying he should get 8s on PCS, hell, I personally wouldn't even touch the mid to high 7s. But giving him 60 is obviously such lowballing. He got 68 for the free at Junior Nats, and considering he has 1 fall here, maybe 65-ish I can still accept. Not to mention, the judging panel here were obviously more lenient than Junior Nats, all juniors got a PCS rise, and Koshiro got 6+ more points for a worse skate.

I'm not into conspiracy theories, but if you think Shun doesn't get lowballed in PCS, I'm gonna have to ask you back did you even watch the whole competition. And LOL, what's with the Yuzuru thing, Shun doesn't skate like Yuzuru at all. Sendai is just a place, and Shun doesn't even train there anymore.

For me it‘s Yuma who is more lowballed in PCS even he was in last group for FS

I like Yuma, he's one of those I'm keeping an eye on. But he's 15 years old. It is what it is. He'll be given better scores if he's consistent and performs well in the future.

So according to your logic, he both derserved 60 PCS and only got 60 PCS because he skated in earlier group, which then implies if he had skated later his PCS would rise? Which is the truth??

Well, I'm still saying I think Shun deserves higher PCS, both in the absolute sense and relative to what the other junior boys get. If you don't because you don't rate his skating as highly, fine. Dismissing other's opinion, implying they don't watch him and only supporting him due to a connection with Hanyu (?? what connection??), that's just pure logical fallacy. If I remember correctly, forum rules say we're here to discuss skating, not to armchair psychoanalyse each other.

Does anyone know whether Mitsuki Sumoto will get any more assignments this year?
He won silver in one of his JGP events this year and came 7th in junior nationals.

Hopefully we'll get to see him at senior nationals next year, or he might even turn senior (I don't know how they decide on when to move up)

I still remember Shun talked about Yuzuru on TV a few years ago showing the good luck charm Yuzuru gave. It is great he keeps improving, I hope he'll be able to compete internationally in many chances in future.

I really like Yuma Kagiyama's skating, and I didn't know until yesterday that his father was two time Olympian and 3 time national champion in men's single. I'm looking forward to seeing him more
