2025-26 Japanese Men's Figure Skating

At the end of Kao's "official" Senior debut season (aka "Beauty and the Beast" season) I suddenly, for no reason got the feeling that he wasn't going to make the 2026 Olympic team
Not sure why that even came to mind and why I was so convinced but I couldn't avoid or alter the nagging feeling that something was going to keep him off the team (so far, on point)
I'd be very happy if he could experience the Olympics with Yuma and Shun but my greatest wish for him this season is to have a redemption WC

Not to mention, I would love to see Kazuki make the Olympic team...I really feel he deserves that

I think Kao will finish on the podium at Nats just above Kazuki but Kazuki will still be assigned Olys
Fair?...idk but it's what I feel will happen and if it does Kao will have to be okay with that
Kao will need to be Nats champ to go to Olys (this time)

Of course I could be totally wrong about everything proving I'm just a superstitious wacko 🤪😅
Thank you for clarifying! I also feel that Kazuki getting Olys and Kao getting Worlds would be the best and fairest outcome, so I'm with you on that wish

So…. the Olympic team is cut and dried.
Kagiyama, Sato, and Miura

But the Junior Worlds team…is not. If the selection criteria is anything like last year’s, then the team is Nakata, Nishino and one of Takahashi and Ebihara. That last spot will be an interesting decision and I don’t think it’ll be an easy one. I know who I want on the team, but either skater is fair and there won’t be any sounding off from me. I guess it comes down to what JFed wants to value more in this case: domestic or international results?

Rooting for Ebihara 🙏
Also, hoping the 5th and 6th place finishers get 4CC spots too 😜

So, am I getting it right? NO Challenger assignments between September 4 and December 4? If so, this is literally the dirtiest they have ever done their skaters (and to their overseas fans who happen to be priced out by GP) because we all know how keen JSF are on assigning to Golden Spin. This has got to be a bad joke.

All the skaters they would've sent to early season Challengers outside of the country will likely be assigned to Kinoshita Group Cup
Now I believe the decision to host a CS event within Japan was primarily for the federation to save on travel expenses 😅
...while making some $ on ticket revenue, of course

They started to charge fans to watch practice at domestic events, after all
