Can someone please explain WHY so many people choose La La Land? Ted already explained why skating-wise. I mean why conceptually/originality-wise. Don't they realize how many others also will, or do they think they'll be the only ones? Or just not care?

Hahaha, no. It's a reference to the Oscars: the announcers made a mistake, announced that La La Land had won Best Picture, only for two minutes later to have to come out and announce that it was a mistake; Moonlight had won.

First I thought it was a reference to Alina Zagitova's Black Swan
